royorkie or Yorkweiler, is this a real thing?
 

My daughter and I (single father) just moved into a new place and i promised here a dog to help us both feel more at home. I found this ad on Craiglist.

After looking around a bit online, i don't see many references to Royorkies or Yorkweiler, but i have found that SOME yorkies look like small rotweilers when young.

So, should i believe that this is a Yorkweiler, or run from this person?

Rottweiler & Yorkie mix:eek: run, run, run as fast as you can. But why would you even consider a Rottweiler / Yorkie mix. If you are looking for a yorkie mix check your shelters. Yes tiny baby yorkies do look like mini Rotteiler, but they are pure pedigrees, maybe other members have come accross Rottweiler & Yorkie mix, I have not. Guess there are not many if any at all reason you could not find it online. I am still in shock over this combination :2omg:

Is there a way to know if its true? What traits can i look for that a Yorkie most definitely would NOT have that a Rottweiler would? We are going to look at the dog tomorrow night.

I'm a single dad and honestly not a big fan of little dogs...But also, i'm a single dad with a 9yr old daughter...so i'm willing to compromise, i've had plenty of tea parties and played with lots of dolls. That's why i'm looking at this mix. I wouldn't get a Yorkie.....But, if i can TELL people its a Yorkweiler...that's something that can make both of us happy!

I like yorkie mixes and have one, but sorry if I offend anyone that is one ugly puppy. A Rotweiler is a big dog like over 75 lbs some even bigger. Yorkies are on average 6 to 7 lbs so that type of mating would be pretty unlikely. if you want a mid size dog I would look at other breeds and definitely at shelters and rescue groups. I think most people that know anything about dogs would look at you like you had two heads if you tried to tell them your dog was a Yorkweiler

If you want a Rottie, buy a Rottie, this is some reason to buy this dog. Please... can someone help me unsee this ... I wouldn't get a Yorkie.....But, if i can TELL people its a Yorkweiler

Guess there will be 2 offenders because that is one ugly pup. Sad thing is, it is sooooo ugly I feel soooo sorry for it, I would take it. Poor ugly little puppy.

I see the dog is in Deer Park, I just emailed the CL listing to my friend Heidi Walker who runs one of the largest yorkie rescue groups in the country, Yorkie 911 which happens to be located where this so called Yorkiweiller is. I will be interested to hear her take on this whole thing

I see Rottie in the markings, coloring, and coat type. That's what it seems like, anyway. It'd be easier to tell with more pictures.

If the pup is 10 lbs at 4 months, I kind of doubt it's a Rottie mix. But I could be wrong, I don't know.

I think it's adorable. Iunno', I guess I like the "mutt" look? Haha.

there a ton of breeds that could wind up with that color combo, it's probably a Heinz 57 a mix of multiple dogs

I would not even look at this pup. Go to a shelter or rescue or reputable breeder to get a pup not craigslists. People will steal dogs then sell them on craigslist. In my opinion that mix is impossible and if it's not breeding them was cruel.

I didn't think they actually breed them, more like artificial insemination. I have been looking at shelters and rescues, but it seems the shelters in my area are full of pitbulls and my lease specifically denies certain types of dogs, pitbulls being the first one mentioned.

I'm trying to find a dog that can both make a 9yr old girl happy and a 34yr old single dad happy....It's not easy.

I didn't want to add to the negativity but...I'm not sure what a Yorkie/rottweiler would look like but I feel like that isn't it. LOL

Personally, I don't agree with you getting a rottweiler/yorkie just because you are unsure of your masculinity. There is nothing wrong with a grown man with a yorkie. I have a 3lb yorkie and my bf takes it out (even brings her to work) proudly!

If you really don't want a tiny dog then I would look for a medium size breed and not one that's not so oddly mixed...if anyone told me they had a "Royorkies" or "Yorkweiler" I would look at them as if they were crazy lol...

So I am confused....if you dont want a Yorkie, and want a large dog, get a large dog! Get a Beagle....get a rat terrier....get a cocker spaniel...get any mid size dog!! Dont like shedding? Get her a toy poodle, that is a midsize dog that does not shed....or if you want a larger dog, get her a standard poodle....or get a labrador, or german shepherd....there are thousands of dogs out there, ESPECIALLY in rescue centers or the pound....go look for you a dog there....you are getting a mix breed if you want one, you can talk to people that can tell you how large that dog may get......when dealing with mixes, you never know for certain how large a dog you may end up with.....

You dont care for small dogs and a nine year old child is not really equipped to deal with the stubborness and difficulties a Yorkie's personality may present....they are hard to house train and it takes enormous patience and determination and diligence.....I am not sure this dog is anything you want......and it is not fair to get the dog and then get discouraged and frustrated and rehoming it again.....

You need to get VERY familiar with personalities of any breed you are considering getting....you and a child are going to have to deal with this pet's personality traits....I know next to nothing about Rotties but I know they need a firm hand and firm control and training....not really recommended for an inexperienced dog owner or a child....and the very worse thing you can do is take a child to look at a puppy....you will be leaving there with that dog and I can almost promise it will be a major mistake.

I knew a "breeder" that did this mix, and then got on line and bragged about it....and shortly thereafter, she lost her AKC breeding rights....dont know if that had anything to do with it, clearly raised concern about reputable and ethical breeder/breedings....but yes, this can be done!

When I was a teenager, a neighbor had a male weenie dog.....Joseppie....he got out and bred another neighbors doberman THRU the wrought iron gate to the dobermans back yard.....talk about trouble in the neighborhood!!! Dobie had a litter of 10 puppies.....picture THIS!!....a dog that looks like a doberman, except the legs were about 6 inches long, and the bodies were about 18-24 inches long......soooo ugly...any of this is possible!!!!

That particular puppy is not something I'd find cute *shrug* I'm a sucker for aesthetics. If a potential dog is basically for a 9 year old I wouldn't get it (I have a 6 year old). Most children do not understand the responsibility entailed with having a pet and since the pet will basically be your responsibility you should find breeds you wouldn't mind having. and not settle. My husband wanted a "manly" dog and I bought him an (English) Bulldog. Great with kids, people pleasers, lazy (perfect for the hubs), and just want to be with their owners.

Wow! I swear that is the same picture of a yorkie mix puppy on a local craigslist listing I saw here a couple months ago of a yorkie mix though that was for sale in NC.

As far as if it is possible? When I was a teenager a friend of mine had a 100+ pound female lab and under 10 lb chihuahua. The lab when into heat and she laid down on the floor for the chihuahua to get to her and they had puppies a couple months later.

I would not get that dog for a 9 year old girl. The dog will be primarily the dad's responsibility as she will forget to feed it and not want to take it outside. Believe me, I have 2 teenagers. They should get a dog they will both enjoy and I doubt this will be one. If it looks like a rott it will drool and slobber all over. I would keep looking for a better suited puppy to your situation if it were me. Good luck.

Well as far as the combo, anything IS possible. I had a 9 mo old Golden retriever who got pregnant by my neighbors Jack Russel!! I was planning on having her spayed at 1 yr…..the JR got thru our fence and..well, you know. My dog was too young and had trouble. I took her to the vet and there were 10 puppies, but she was losing them. None survived. That was a sad event. She was too young to even know what was going on.
As far as that puppy and paying for it. I actually did adopt my little Sunni, and ended up having quite a lot of expenses to pay for her, because I didn't know if she had been vaccinated, wormed etc. She's a perfectly lovely little puppy without papers, but she's a pet. I wasn't expecting a purebred, and don't know if she is or not. I wouldn't pay for a mixed breed dog just because they give them cute names. I love Shih Tzu's as much as Yorkies….trust me, the thought of how cute they are melts my heart..but I wouldn't even look at them because I wouldn't want to be tempted. Anyway, I've paid purebred prices for purebred dogs. I would not pay for a mix. I will pay to care for a mix.

I had cocker spaniels. I think that would be a good option for you guys. This mix is oddly cute and I guess needs a good home.

I must be weird but I find that dog adorable! But I love scruffy mutts and want a Border Terrier for my next dog. But that dog certainly doesn't have any Rottweiler in it.

Actually I'd suggest Border Terriers to you. They're "manly" enough but still small (under 20lbs), great with kids, usually good other dogs (better than most terriers).

Just what I was thinking! And a lot of men don't like little dogs bc they are afraid they will look "gay". Trust me, no one is actually thinking that.

Yorkies and other small breed dogs are CHICK MAGNETS! You say you are single huh? Get a yorkie and take your daughter and the dog with you everywhere. Women will be lining up to talk to you.

There are rescues in your area. I just saw several yorkies needing to be rescued from kill shelters in NY. Please don't support this breeder. You can check petfinder.com

Kind of like the weeniepit or doxiebull or whatever they are called? Have you see the pitt/dachshund mix? All dogs are sweet to me but this combo just looks so - unexpected!
