Post your healthy babies please! As a newer member I have noticed, and others have noticed as well, that there are many posts that concern babies with health issues. If you are blessed with a healthy baby, please post! I know there are many more that are healthy than there are those that are ill. I will start with Bonnie. Although she is only 16 weeks right now, she is wonderfully healthy and has very sturdy, strong bones. The vet says she is perfect right now. There are no indications of luxating patellas, liver shunt or any other health issue. While I realize that this does not mean she will never have a problem, my vet believes she will have a long and healthy life with proper care and nutrition. Please let us know about your healthy, happy babies. I know you are out there😀 |

Also, they're a bit scared of tempting fate?!!!!? :) Okay - so here I go....Harry is 4 years + 4 months old....apart from all the 'normal' vet visits (jabs etc.) he's a huge, healthy, totally on-top-of-the-world little boy...and long may it continue!!! :D :xfingers: :) |

If you are worried about tempting fate, maybe just post we are having a great day today! |
I agree with Sally's excellent points. My boys are almost 6 and 7. The only issues we have had were 1) a couple little viruses that caused a day or two of vomiting and diarrhea, 2) Max had eye ulcers that were caused by repeated injury (different causes). The treatment caused a hair to grow under his eyelid that had to be removed with a laser. No permanent damage, thank goodness. Otherwise, healthy and no congenital problems. |
My adopted boy of 14 months now, came to me at age 2 1/2 years old with a serious health issue due to prev.owner not having the funds for his medical treatment. In a nut shell my vet resolved this issue with surgery and today he is a happy lil imp with his 4 birthday coming up in 3 weeks. He is determined to kill the pesty lil squirrel that hangs out at my bird feeder. My now passed 4 lil girls were all healthy with no serious health issues until they reached their senior years, 10 to 13 y/o. I praymy lil boy lives the healthy life my passed girls did. As Harrysmum wrote, many ppl come to YT for help and guidance, reason why we see a lot of sick babies. That is mainly what YT is all about, advise, suggestions, trying to help. Yes there are many happy, healthy, silly lil babies out there and it would be awesome if ppl would post silly, cute, things our fur kids do. Lets see if your thread can gets some happy silly things these lil clowns do. |
My babies are healthy :). Wylie has chronic diseases, but all are treated well. Marcel only has allergies. Pfeiffer has no health issues. And our chi, Artie, is very healthy. |
The reason it seems like there are a lot of unhealthy pups is because people generally post when they have issues. Also yorkies are very popular and seen as big money makers so puppy mills and bad breeders are breeding dogs and not caring about there health or genetics so we are having more yorkies with genetic issues. This is another reason it's not always good for a dog breed to be on the top 10 list of most popular dogs because then they become a way people want to make a fast buck. |
knock on wood Macaroni will be 2 on Wednesday and is healthy has good appetite and a bundle of Yorkie energy !! I am truly blessed. |
Anna is around 7/8? We don't know. We got her from a shelter. She had terrible skin issues when we got her. Doing great now though. Barney, 2 years old, is healthy also. Other than a few visits to the vet here and there for scrapes and such, they both are healthy, happy dogs. |
ZoE is fours years old and healthy. I agree with what others have said about YT and the internet in general being places that people search when they have problems, so you get a disproportionate amount of unhealthy/problem yorkie posts. I think that makes new yorkie owners nervous. Personally, I feel like there is a warped perception of yorkies here; not only with yorkie health, but other things too. Only here do I get such a strong 'yorkies are hard to potty train' vibe. All the yorkies I've known, which has been many in my lifetime, potty-trained quickly & easily. I've said it often in response to threads, I believe raising a dog is like raising a child. The few problem ones you hear about, the few exceptional ones you hear about, but the average well-behaved, does the right thing, stays out of trouble, tries hard at their schooling, you don't...even though they are the majority. I refer to it as the 'news mentality.' |
Thank you all for the great reassurance!!!! |
I wanted to add that a lot of issues can be managed and the dog live happy and healthy. Mine had Luxating Pattella in both back legs as well as one of them having a partial ACL tear both of these were fixable and although she is still recovering from the knee surgery on the second knee ( just has a little limp occasionally) she is no longer in pain and needing pain meds everyday. She also has mild collapsing trachea and has since she was a pup but it has not gotten any worse in her 7 years and she has only had a flare up of it being irritated once which required steroids for a week. She does not have to many ct episodes as long as I remember exercising her out side when it's really hot is not a good idea. She has hypothyroidism but once it was figured out and she was put on medicine that is really pretty cheap and now her symptoms are gone. She also has IBD which is caused by food allergies (which are rare) since going on a prescription food she has not had any of the issues. She was diagnosed at the end of allergy season so I am unsure if she has environmental allergy's too or if it was the food causing problems but hers are pretty easy to treat with an allergy medicine and bathing weekly. She is slightly chubby but I feel at this time she is pretty healthy and feeling good. I will add that my yorkie came from a puppy mill so many of her issues are genetic and caused because of that. With reputable breeders you can still have issues pop up but it's not as common as dogs that come from bad breeders and or puppy mills. There are many things a dog and or yorkie can have but most are treatable and not a death sentence for the dog and they can still live very long happy healthy lives. |
Pao is healthy until he was 8 when he got pancreatitis but that probably has been brought on by the Stella Chewy I was feeding him at the time but he is healthy now and don't forget that Yorkies are feisty! |
Blazer is almost 3 years old and is as healthy as can be! :) |
I am blessed with 3 very healthy girls. Tiki was suspected of having mild MVD at 7 months, but is now almost 7 years and doing so well I wonder if she doesn't really have MVD or at least it is well managed and she has no symptoms. Kayla had mild LP grade 1, at 1 year old, and now at almost 6 it has not gotten worse. Karlee, at almost 6 needs to lose about a pound or two, and she occasionally has reverse sneezing. All in all, I feel very lucky that they are so healthy. |
4 Attachment(s) Here's my two boys just a few days ago, Gucci and Zippy, both rescues with estimated ages and mysteries for histories. Gucci enjoys lounging around the house most days now while Zippy and I hit the bricks for about 3 mile walks a few times a week. Gucci is a grump at times where Zippy is continually happy, unnaturally so! LOL :D |

Teddy is 16 months old and super healthy. The vet told me he was the "best specimen of the breed" he'd seen in a long time...lol I was like, "Do you want to buy him?" Just kidding! Anyway, not all Yorkie's get sick. Not all sickness is fatal, you know? You and yours are doing fine! |

Rin is 6, she has Grade 1 LP and typical dental issues. Tyson is 5 and completely healthy! My daughter's puppy, Ernie, is 1 and completely healthy too:p:p |
Wolfie went to the vet last week. He is five mos. old. He finished with all his shots. He weighed eight pounds. He is going to be a big booger. He is scheduled to get neutered in two mos. He will be my little eunuch. He is also now on Heartguard heart worm meds. every thing else checks out fine. |

Max (1 yr 9 mths) and Sasha (13 mths) are our 2 bundles of joy. Sasha has LP which was quite bad when she was younger. She would keep the weight of her right rear leg 80% of the time. But as she has grown she has improved greatly, probably favoring it only 10% of the time. Max is fat and happy! I take them to work with me at least once a week and the people in the office love them. They are great with the grand kids. Other than the usual bumps and bruises from being so rambunctious we have nothing to complain about (knock on wood!) |
1 Attachment(s) Posting my avatar pic of my 2 healthy babies. Have had them one year now. Tyler is almost 2 and Sophie is 2 months younger than Ty. Have not had any health issues at all with them (knock on wood) other than Tyler did have one episode of reverse sneezing suddenly after a busy day spent outside. |

1 Attachment(s) Here is 14.5 year old Barney. He has a few medical issues...just started some medicine for his enlarged heart. He's overall been a very healthy pet, with a few bumps in the road. Attachment 404434 |
My 7 month old Mia is as healthy as can be. Have never had one issue with her. Every day is a blessing. |
