| ![]() Hi everyone, I have a question about the coat change from puppy to adult. My baby Ruby will be 6 months old next week. I have been struggling with terrible tangles for almost a month so I am wondering if this is a sign that her adult coat is coming in, and if that is the case will her hair always be like this? The tips of the hair on her body are still black but she is breaking a light blue on her back that goes down about two and a half inches. I reallly need to put warm clothes on her at night but every time I do she is so tangled in the morning that I am thinking about cutting her body. So my big question is do you think that the texture of her hair will change or will it be like this forever. I would love to grow her hair out to the floor but at this point it is thin and tangles so easily that it is hard for me to keep her warm enough. I am thinking that if I cut it I can put warm sweaters and P.J's on her. I would love any advice. Thanks in advance for any advice. Debbie |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | ![]() Gosh, it's so hard so predict the texture of a dog's coat...really hard to say. I have 1 that tangles/knots terribly, one that isn't so bad in terms of matting, and 1 who is in btwn.

| ![]() Thanks so much for responding. Do you know how old a puppy is when their coat changes to an adult coat. Last night I just couldn't stand it anymore and cut the black part of her coat off. She is all gray underneath and it is much more silky but it is a little wavy. Do you know if the wave will stay forever. She will be 6 months old on the 3rd of Feb. Thanks again Debbie |
