I'm still new here, so I'm not sure how things work. I looked at your profile and didn't see any Dutchess pictures. Would you mind posting one? Or pointing me in the right direction to see pictures of her? I'm very curious! |
Chewie and Griffy are both adorable! All the best with the new little guy. |
Welcome to YT! Both of your babies are ridiculously handsome! |
Your Griffy is adorable; the two of you were meant to be...congratulations on the new addition to your already super-cute family! |
I have "theories" on why the wife didn't like my dog, but I only know the couple socially a little, not very well. Theory 1 is she doesn't like dogs at all. Any dogs. Theory 2 is the dog is 9 years old, they had been married less than that. What if he got the dog with an ex? I would have gotten the dog to adore me if I was in that situation, however, back to number 1. I don't think she likes dogs much. I am a dog lover, so it is just crazy for me. My husband had a dog that he got in high school. Then he got married and then divorced and he still had the dog when I was dating him and so I just loved on the dog even if him and his wife had it together for a while, but they didn't get the dog together, although it wouldn't have mattered, I would have still got the dog to love me. She died about a year before we got married and I was the one taking care of her the last 2 weeks of her life when she could barely lift her head up at all. I was there when we took her to the vet because she could no longer stand at all and it was time to let her go. I was the one stroking her head and talking to her and whispering in her ear what a good dog she was and how much we loved her. I don't know why the wife didn't like Teek. I can see a few things that he did that maybe she didn't know how to control. He is a trash digger. My solution.... don't throw away food items in trash he can get to. We already had a covered kitchen trash because my husband's dog is half horse and could just eat out of the trash like it is a food bowl. LOL I think he may have had issues with food with their small children. I have teenagers and so we just tell him no and down and we don't let him take food out of our hands or off our plates while we are eating, but I can see where that has happened in the past, but we are working on that behavior and he has improved a lot since I got him. If she didn't know how to deal with it then I can see there could have been an issue. These are just my theories on possible problems though from behavior I see him have in my house. Is he perfect? NO. Is he a great dog? Absolutely! His personality is golden! He loves everyone. He is so well behaved when we travel and go places. The trash thing is avoidable. The food thing we are training him. He does not dare take food from me, but I am alpha and have been from the moment I brought him home. I don't let him take it from my teens, but they are capable of stopping him themselves anyway and will tell him no. Only other bad habit I know he has is you can't leave underwear anywhere near him, so we pick them up and put them in the laundry room and problem solved. 2 are training issues with the people in the house and 1 is a training issue with the dog. Overall though, I got an amazing dog who is by far my best friend and is loved and adored. I can see the lady I got him from not wanting to deal with these issues though and stuff from what I know of her (as I said, I don't know her well). I also met a girl that took care of him when they went away for a week and she didn't even want him to come near her, but I don't think she knew how to deal with a dog, she was young and I think a dog like Teek needed an experienced dog owner to be able to understand him and work with him. I do believe I bring out the best in this little guy as many other dog lovers and experienced dog owners would. However, I can see where someone who doesn't know anything about dogs would have problems. Does that make sense to you? |
