Thanks for your reply, I will also try the C.E.T. What is the full name, I will see what pet stores carry them, I have Pet Suppy's and Pet Smart in my area PetCo is an hour away, not a prob. for me, I travel where ever to what I can't get in my area.
The brand is Virbac. They are called Virbac C.E.T. Oral Hygiene Chews. I get mine from Petco so I'm not sure where else they sell them. They come in different sizes and I get the Medium. | Thank you, in the next week I will be in area where a Petco store is. I will take a look. Quote:

I would also suggest checking out chewy.com. A lot of times even with the shipping (4.99 I think) it's cheaper than in the store. | I see a lot of members use chewy.com. Never seeing what a bully stick looked like I didn't want to order on line. I never buy on line unless I have seen in person what I am looking for. Right now I am up in the air about bully sticks, I'm going to try some other chews that were suggested. Thanks for the heads up on chewy.com. Quote:

Personally, I would be cautious of purchasing bully sticks from pet stores where they are stored out in the open for anyone to come along and handle. I know that seems oxy moron because of what bully sticks are made from, but quality is important. Make sure you are purchasing products made only in the USA, range fed, grain free is my preference too. Also, many pet store products seem to really smell when your pet chews on them. I mean, I don't think there is really an "odor free" bully stick, but some of them REALLY do smell gross. I think some are soaked in a "smoke" solution (that's an opinion not a known fact), and some do cause intestinal upset in dogs which is more reason to closly monitor your pups and take notes when giving them so you can be certain. I buy all my bully sticks from bestbullysticks.com I purchase odor free and I get the ones that are 12" long and the "thick" ones. They last a very long time. I never leave them lay out I always monitor their chew times 15-20 minutes at a time. I go in spurts where I'll give mine bully sticks, then I take a break for a while because they do seem to pull out their beards when they chew on a regular basis and I don't like that. | When the fellow showed me them I saw they were stored out in the open for anyone to come along and handle, that was a concern for me, but rethought saying it must be ok, everyone buys them, I did wash it off with plain water when I came home and gave it to him the next day when I knew it was dry. When I would buy hooves for my past girls they were sold the same way, open to the public, I did the same thing, rinsed them off first, when dry I would give to them. The bully stick had no smell while Cody was chewing next to me, when I cut off the mushy part it smelled a bit fishie, nothing can smell worse then hooves, iyiyi, what we endure for these babies. I know if someone I knew was eating something nasty smelling by me, I would either move or tell them to move lol, yet my past babies would lay on me or next to me and it was just "it is what it is" they were happy, I was happy:eek:. Thanks for the bestbullysticks.com. I would prefer thicker ones, this little boy sure enjoyed the chewing, I hated to take it away from him. I too would alternate, and what ever goes in his mouth I always watch what comes out the other end. So funny, years ago when I had my pack of 3 I never hesitated to buy treats, hooves of various types were always their fav. they chewed them every night, never a problem, today with all the wonderful technology we have, we now have to be so overly cautious when it comes to food and treats. Thank you for reply. |
