My yorkie (almost 8months old) has a habit of climbing up me and sitting/lying high up on my chest right under my neck

He also sits/lies on my lap but he favours the chest position:

is this a yorkie thing or is he just plain kooky?

It's a yorkie thing. Mine does it too. Seems like they can never get quite close enough to you. But I love it!!!

Yep. It is a Yorkie thing and a Biewer thing. I call them my scarves

My pappilon does that when we ride in the car. As she gets older shes not doing it as much. My yorky doest. I think its cause the puppies are held up close as puppies. Least my thought any way

Mine does the same exact think and when I try to put him down lower (like on my lap), he climbs all the way back up.

All 3 of my Yorkies have done that. Yorkies love to be up higher than or on the same level with your face, it seems like. When I would sleep on my side with each of my first two Yorkies, , little Scottie and later, my Jilly, each of which was just 3 lbs., would sleep atop the hip that was not mattress-side. If I moved to turn over, they each would walk along my body as I turned! Tibbe, who weighs in at 7 lbs., doesn't get atop my hip very often but the two little ones used to do it every night, for a while at least. But all 3 loved/love to sleep on my chest, on my neck or anywhere high up that they can.

All I can say re your latest question is that if I'm in the recliner, Milo wants to either lay across my lap or in between my legs. Roman is one adorable little furbaby & from all your inquiries concerning him, it seems you are a very conscientious mom. Keep up the good work!
