Wearing his sweater for first time but OMG...... The weather is now cold here in the UK and I noticed my puppy had a little shiver now and again, so I got him some sweaters and he loves them and he is all warm and content BUT I took his jumper off and OMG he had turned into a ball of cotton candy:2omg::eyetearss he had lots of mats tangles and his coat was a mess. Before he wore a sweater he never had one knot tangle or mat in his coat, his mum dad and family all have silky coats and his is growing like theirs but the sweater caused crazy matting. Does this happen to all babies who wear sweaters or am I doing something wrong. The trouble now is he loves his sweater and will sit near the drawer and not move unless I put one on him, so he has his sweater on and I'm thinking hellllloo cotton candy boy. Any tips /advice would be greatly welcomed |
Cotton candy, lol, great description! Ideally all clothes would be satin lined to cut down on tangles. I find it is helpful to let the hair relax for at least 15 minutes after taking off clothes. Then I brush. |
In my experience yarn sweaters cause much more matting than any other clothes. You might want to get him some fleece shirts or put a tshirt under the sweater. It's definately vital to brush everday when they wear clothes. |
Yes, Joey hardly ever tangles now, but as a puppy, he too was a ball of cotton candy. I'd put Cowboy Magic under arms, before I put him in a sweater, otherwise he'd mat. Some people use corn starch. Fortunately, he outgrew the tangles. You could keep him clipped short, until the adult coat grows in. Maximo's right, silk will keep them from matting, and you might be able to find a silk t-shirt to wear under clothes. |
I bet he's the cutest piece of cotton candy huh? lol. I was also going to suggest maybe putting a shirt under his sweater to help prevent from some matting. |
Until you get some satin lined clothing or other special lining, you might try spraying on some detangler or leave-in conditioner on him and brushing him out before putting on his sweaters. |
I usually brush him before I put a sweater on. Then like Kristin say . . Wait 15 mins and then brush. . I use a comb with rotating teeth that works really well. |
Thank you all so much, I've been searching web for silk or satin t shirt to wear under sweater but not found anything, I will put all your suggestions into practice to try avoid cotton candy attack:eek: |
