I never said my friendship with her made her a good breeder, But tarring and feathering any person before anyone has the facts is wrong regardless. I don't understand how most jump on a breeder for letting a potential buyer know before she even gets the puppy that it has a problem with it's knees , but let someone come on here with no knowledge of breeding come on here and say they have an oops or they just want to breed their dog once and it's okay. unbelievable. I don't think the cost of the surgery is crazy as my vet is one that does not charge over 1000 for a lp surgery and it's not because he is a bad vet it's because he has 4 other locations and he is also a repro vet so he can afford to lower his costs. In fact a friend of mine had LP surgery done on one of her pups and her total costs including medications and bloodwork prior to the surgery was only 800. |

Lots of vets do things to keep clients. Does not mean I would EVER let one of them mess around with my pups legs. When I see people posting these things about their wonderful vets doing such surgeries, I wonder if they would go to their family physician and ask for them to do a knee replacement. WHY do we treat animals any different than we do outselves is the question I believe needs to be asked. As for breeders and cheap vets....the reason for that is the bottom line. And, then they tell me they are breeding for the betterment of the breed. WhatEVER. It is about the money if you must bargain shop for vetting. My opinion! I personally think that knocking off $200 for a puppy who has LP at such a young age, is a rip off. My opinion! I would not walk away, I would run. |

THANK YOU everyone for helping me sort through all of this. I was surprised and delighted to receive a phone call last night from the Yorkie breeder, Ava. She was most reassuring and told me that she did NOT breed Yorkies with known patella problems. Someone from Yorkie Talk had contacted her about my anxious posts. I was mistaken in thinking that her daughter's Yorkie that needed patella surgery was the sire for this litter. Mea culpa! I apologized profusely and want to make sure that you know this. I will not be buying the puppy with the Grade 2 patella but will be looking at her other puppies. |

I hope the other puppy is placed in a wonderful home who will take care of those knees properly. |
New Yorkie pup is home! Hello! Little three pound Max came home yesterday afternoon! Ava spent two hours with me and she was marvelous. Today we saw our vet and this little guy is just fine! Lilly, my 5 year old Yorkie mix is not impressed. Max wants to play and Lilly wants no part of it. Lilly needs some time to adjust. Any suggestions? |
