What do your Yorkies drink? When I got Tino, I used to give him goats milk, which he drank very little of anyway. I went to the vet and they said to give him water but he wont drink it unless I put it on my finger. So I tried milk as a treat today - he loves it! So Im giving him milk instead - as long as he's drinking it, he can have it. Im just wonderng what your Yorkies like to drink? |

Milk is hard on dogs. My girl drinks water and will try coffee if she can snag it. Buy bottles or put it through a filter some do not like chlorine smell. Or do what my vet suggested when my girl was off her water after a trip. open can of tuns pour a little in water and place in front of dog. they will usually drink right away. Joy |

martini? margarita? strawberry daquiri? ......lol toby has only been drinking water....... i didnt know you were supposed to give them anything other than that  i had heard that milk causes problems..... he just gets plain old tap water and seems to be doing fine with it |

Don't give milk! You will probably end up taking her to the vet for stomach upset and probably diarreha! Be Careful! Just leave the water out, and ignore trying to give her some, and she will go to it on her own. Right now, she is getting attention about it! Pat |

Dont panic guys, its milk that is specially formulated for dogs, with xtra vitamins, etc. He'll also try and get his nose in anything else I'm drinking apart from water!! Fussy bugar! |

He's spoiled! Ha! They get spoiled real fast! He will eventually drink, trust me! And remember, they are little, so don't drink a heck of a lot throughout the day. Especially when it isn't hot out! Pat |

Water I used to have to put water on my finger to make Baby drink. I also used to put Nutrical mixed into it. I would also put Nutrical on my finger and let her taste it, then I would put my finger (with the Nutrical) and submerge it in the water so she was licking both, then I would put my finger totally under the water to just drink the water...until she was catching on that she was just drinking the water. Then I would bring my finger up and start again. I would also take a glass of water and drink some. When she saw me drinking she would want some. Then I would tilt the glass and let her drink from it. She now drinks water on her own. I actually only use Poland Springs b/c we get it delivered. I give her fresh water about 4 times a day. Also...does your baby eat mostly wet food? If he does, he might not be as thirsty. Sorry for rambling, hope I helped! :p |

Schatzie enjoys a glass of Merlot every now and then but mostly just water. Seriously though...I have never heard of a dog NOT wanting to drink water? |

My vet gave me a oral solution to add to my babies water. It's supposed to cut down on the bacteria in their mouths. I add about a teaspoon to a quart of filtered water and keep it in my refrigerator to replenish their supply daily. :cup: They LOVE it! They drink so much more water now than they did before I started using this solution. It doesn't have any odor, and there's so little in a large amount of water. But GEEZ, they drink like there's no tomorrow. When I asked the vet, he said that it's not supposed to make them thirstier or anything, they must really like it. |

Loki LOVES water, so I'm not much help, but i wanted to say that there is some kind of flavored water out there for dogs. I guess it it like Gatorade and you're supposed to only give it after a workout, but a Yorkie can get a workout just running around the house (mine does!) Maybe try that? The goofy pup that he is, Loki will always try to snag some of my Sprite. It must smell good to him! If I EVER spill he is right there to lick it up. |

Both of my little girls drink water all of the time. I have never had a problem getting them to drink it. |
|
Josie only drinks tap water. Maybe try diluting the milk with some water a little at a time, just like you do if you switch to a different food. If you do it gradual enough, maybe she will just like it? |

 Just Water!!! :) |

Have you tried ice cubes? I think they also have popsicles for dogs. |

Mine love orange juice, apple juice, chocolate milk (in small amounts) and regular milk with a little sugar.Iv never given them a whole glass of any of this (obviously lol) but I do give them a spoon full of the drinks they like when I have it.Its like a treat really, never something I use to replace water.I dont think milk is good for them as a regular drink,it can give them diarrea.Your baby should be drinking water.Have you tried a seringe? I used to have to force feed Lady water as a pup because she didnt seem interested in water either. The breeder had always given her water with a vitamin suppliment in it so it was sweet,so obviously when she came to us she didnt like water on its own.I would deffinately stop giving her milk all the time though. |

also too much dairy can cause Pancriatious in the long run. Best to keep it at a minimum. |

Tigger drinks water, but if I'm having a beer (shiner, or bud light) I'll put a little on my finger and Tigger will lick it right off!!! But I don't have beer very often because I live in a dry county so it's hard to find. |

Other Drinks I THINK you're allowed to give puppies Pedialite or a little Gatorade if they're not eating/drinking so they don't go into a hypoglycemic shock. I never had to give that. I just give water. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. :) PS. Also, isn't coffee (caffeine) bad for doggies? |

Regular milk will upset their systems, and I DO KNOW that chocolate isn't good for them, so I would watch that. Especially if its a tiny!!! |

Water=Pee It's funny b/c I STILL haven't found a wet food that Baby gobbles. I bought her Ceasars today just to try it. She had a little, but didn't scarf it. O well. :) The reason I asked about the wet food is b/c I know that when they eat dry they drink more water. Maybe that's why Baby drinks a lot. Hence, she pees a lot! LOL |

Need to get her to drink more water, any suggestion Baby Blessing isn't drinking as much water as she should be, I have to coax her to drink. We put her on Arrowhead drinking water when we got her as that is what we drink. She is now 14 weeks. I meant to ask the Vet tuesday when she was in for her shot but I forgot. Really glad she is sleeping at nights and eating good (sometimes with coaxing there too) thankful she is gaining good and very active and playfull. I notice when she does drink on her own is when she is playing hard and knows she needs it :) Appreciate any suggestion on how I can get her to drink more water on her own. Thanks. |

I only give mine water. |

I also don't like him to eat human food as that will encourage him to beg. My mums yorkie will growl and bark under the table at my mums, where as smudger does not show an interest when we are eating because he knows no different. :animal36 :animal36 |

Oh Alona just thought I would tell you asda do a milk especially for dogs, I don't know whether it is good for them or not but I suppose it's better than our milk. It's in the dog food aisle (obviously lol) and it's 58p for a carton HTH :) |
