We discussed how long Teddy could be on a bland diet before there would be concern about an improperly balanced diet.

| My problem with all the holistic pet foods is most of them do not have vets or vet nutritionists on staff and they don't test the foods so honestly you don't know how really good that kind of food is for your dog and it's not as trustworthy. That is why I switched to royal Canin Yorkshire Terrier if that made Callie break out or itch then I was going to talk to my vet about the small breed hypoallergenic food which my vet had suggest we try if Callie continued to have itchy break out problems after the allergy meds and stuff.

| YT 3000 Club Member | chester is a itchy dog at times and has sensitive skin, he has enviromental allergies, he is on grain acana chicken and , before that sundancer from solid gold. If the Benadryl helps that it is not food antihistamine will not change a food allergy. I use all free and clear for laundry, no dryer sheets or anything, no fragrant plug ins, no carpet powder, vacuum a lot, and have a good air cleaner. I use vinegar and water on my laminate floors good luck |

| Keno has spring allergies to pollen, he chews at his feet and his eyes matter up. I rinse his feet every time he goes out and wash his face. Also feed Royal Canin prescription hypoallergenic for a month or so. Then I change back to Royal Canin Special. Also bath weekly in Oatmeal Shampoo. Seems to work for him. I know many people find Royal Canin to be over priced but I have used for my past three dogs with excellent results. |

..but... Anything hydrolyzed or autolyzed contains 'msg'...free unbound glutamates...which are excitotory neuro toxins (as is aspartame)...in case anyone doesn't know. I looked up the ingredients in the hydrolyzed product and have no interest personally. I would not feed "brewers rice" or "hydrolyzed soy protein" (oh, and the soy is quite possibly genetically modified to be "Round-up Ready" and able to survive being sprayed with the pesticide) to a 'carnivorous' animal as it's primary ingredients. Finding a food that meets your need and the dog's tastes can be quite tricky. To investigate foods, you may want to research each ingredient to see IF you want your Yorkie...or even yourself...to eat it...AFTER you know what it is. Good luck in your search. I hope you can discover the cause of the itching, and eliminate it so the sweet baby gets much needed relief.

I expect everyone to do as they think best or have the ability to do...I would...so should they. I only mention such things 'because' I already found out...usually with great difficulty and much time spent...and if I can prevent anyone from going through that research like I had to, maybe it is useful info to someone else, too. I am glad it works for your little ones.

| I feed Royal Canin Hydrolyzed Protein a mix of dry and wet do second guess it with the wet containing "carrageenan" (read it caused inflammation but he hydrolyzed protein is recommended for dogs with IBD ) and wasn't so sure about the Brewers rice or soy and really no meat but it seems to be working. |
