I would have thought your experience as a cop would've have taught you that so long ago. But maybe you're just in mall security or something, I don't know :scratchhe. It looks like you don't have any experience at all w/ violence though, so I guess we have to chalk all this spanking enjoyment up to your naivete. But that's a-okay, we get a lot of new dog owners who don't know much yet, and need to learn as they go as they're just at the beginning of the learning curve. I was spanked as a kid, it taught me that physical violence hurt - and that was all it taught me. Brilliant. I think I could've made that genius leap of knowledge on my own . |

Let's clear some things up. Spanking as discipline, in a child, is not always abuse. It can be, but just because someone spanks their child doesn't mean they're abusive. With that being said, I do not condone hitting anyone or anything for any reason. That includes spankig animals or children. I grew up in a household where spankings were used for everything. My mom was very heavy handed, and even used a paddle on us. It did not teach me discipline, it taught me that my mom was going to beat the crap out of me with a paddle and leave bruises on me. It did not change my behavior, but it did make me angry and hate my mom. It made me grow up thinking it was okay to be beat on, and this led me to get married to an abusive spouse. After many years of abuse, I finally had enough the day he threw me across the bedroom and caused me to miscarry. I left and sought counseling. This made me understand that their behavior was wrong. It also made me realize that hands are not instruments to be used to intimidate a person or animal, and therefore I have never spanked my children or my pets. Living in fear of the person who is your caretaker is not a fun life. |

Agreed...My parents spanked me too. I feared them in the same way I fear God. My parents loved me and I loved them and my life has been fun so I don't subscribe to your suggestion that you being spanked is what wrecked your life. My view of my life is one that is responsible, well adjusted and very happy. I've raised a daughter that is likewise responsible , well adjusted and very happy and I'v raised a good number of dogs who seemed happy and well adjusted and they have been spanked..I don't expect to change anyone's mind whether to spank or not..I think the fact that those who don't spank feel superior to those who spank speaks volumes.. |

Okay, I am not a dog expert, but one thing I do know is DOGS ARE NOT CHILDREN. Whether or not you choose to spank your children as a form of discipline is irrelevant because DOGS ARE NOT CHILDREN. Although many of us may treat our dogs like our own children doesn't mean what's right for them is right for our dogs. Again, I'm no expert, but I don't see how a dog can comprehend, no matter how smart they are, why they are being spanked. A child you can at least talk to and explain to them why they are being spanked, a dog you cannot. |

Get a belly band until he learns not to mark inside. I would get rid of plants inside for now. Generally neutering young curbs behavior |

So far for the last week or two no belly bands and no accidents. He has only heisted once or twice since being neutered so in my opinion he is doing very well. At least well enough that we are very pleased...Now anxiously waiting to have those stitches removed... |
Just got to say one thing to Lawman....My former husband is a Sheriff for 30+ years. He has handled high profile prisoners and transported serial killers across the country, he has killed and almost been killed and I can tell you this your words above are the words of someone that gives cops a bad name, its the school of thought that you portray that is alarming to me. I'm very sad to read this. Your quick defensive words, and almost temper leaves me wondering what you've left in your wake........You've missed a great big message in life.... |
