Please welcome me & my new yorkies!
 

Hi everyone! I am brand new to this website. ALSO I am a brand new Yorkie OWNER! yay!!!! I have a female named Roxy and a male named Ronald! Are there any tips or any advice for me being a new Yorkie owner?! Anything I specifically should know? I love that I found this website and I loved that I am now an official Yorkie owner! I will post pictures of them both!!

Thank you Bellabean!! They were born March 12th so tomorrow they will be exactly 7 weeks old!! I'm still learning how to navigate this website I hope I'm doing it right as well as this reply to you! lol

Welcome. Congratulations on your new babies. I have never seen Yorkie puppies that were that color. Interesting.

Honestly, they look more like Morkies (maltese/yorkie mix). I have a morkie that is darker like a yorkie, but they come in many color variations. I attached a picture of a morkie that looks similar to your pups. I could be wrong, but that is what it looks like to me. Morkies are great by the way. I love my little girl!

Oh my goodness they are adorable. My Darla was born March 6th so our babies are pretty close in age. I agree that the coloring on your babies is very unique. Usually Yorkie puppies are pretty black as puppies. Then again some Yorkies can be all tan. Did you meet the mom and dad of these little guys when you picked them up? I hope you aren't offended by our confusion on if they're Morkie or Yorkie, we're just curious because of how unique the coloring is. We're all here to help. I just joined a week ago and I already have found soooo much information. Welcome to Yorkie Talk. :)

So do you have a picture of your Morkie you can show us? I guess since yours is dark like a Yorkie that the one in the picture is not yours. I sure would like to see it.

When I try to upload a picture from my computer what came from my camera it keeps saying, "Your submission could not be processed because a security token was missing."


When I uploaded the picture from the internet it worked just fine. Do you know what this means?

Thanks,Kreuer. I did not see where the album was but I did see your baby on the Avatar. Had to use a magnifying glass cause these OLD eyes don't see so good any more on these little images and print. But she sure did look pretty. Different than a Yorkie look but so very pretty. I like the Yorkie coloring.

They do look a lot like my Morkie Meika did when she was a baby.... Like a little cinnamon bear. I think there are Golden Yorkies that have the same coloring.

They are gorgeous. And they are a unique color.

Oh,yeah. Now I remember reading about such a thing as Golden Yorkies. They are a beautiful color.Thank you for bringing that to mind. Aren't there other colors too other than what is typically thought of for a Yorkie?

yes i met the mom and dad and they definitely were yorkies. the girl was super sketch though. obviously right when i brought them home i started doing a ton of research and these didn't sound like the typical yorkies. so i text her multiple times asking her several questions about them being pure bred or mixed with anything.. everytime she responded she sounded mad and kept saying LOOK you can just return them i have your money!!!!! and today i mentioned a dna test and she then said "i dont know if they were mixed with anything but go ahead do your damn dna test! i only know that when i got my puppies that they were yorkies!!!" and got soooo mad at me... so you know.. i'm really wondering if they are morkies!!!

They are adorable, to better know what you have DNA would be good, if they are mixed at least you know what breeds they are.

Well, she sounds like a lovely person...lol. Sucks that she may have lied to you, but either way that are adorable. And like I said, I have a Morkie and she is as sweet as can be. I'm not sure how great the people are that I bought my pup from either. Just realized she has eat mites! Don't understand why people can't just be honest instead of just trying to make money.

Wow that's just crazy. She sounds so detached from the puppies and you. Seems odd to me too. I'd do the DNA test if I were you if not for anything else, for peace of mind of knowing what breed of dog you have. Usually people like that will get angry and defensive right away because they have something to hide. I'm so glad these pups are with you instead of her because she acts like she doesn't care much about them. You're a great person to take not one but two and then come here to get all the answers you need so you can be a good Yorkie (or Morkie) momma. You seem like you have your heart in the right place when it comes to your puppies. To me that's enough to deem you a good pet parent. :)

Edit: you should just need to do the DNA testing on one to find out since they're siblings and look identical to one another. I'm sure they're the same breed. Whatever breed that may be, lol. :)

The breeder does sound super defensive. Sadly, there are a lot of bait and switch artists out there. All puppies are adorable though and hopefully you will be happy with these darlings no matter what they end up looking like.

Most typical Yorkies start out mostly black with a little light brown on the paws and face. They can lighten up as they start to lose the puppy coat and get their adult coat. I have never seen one that light at such a young age as yours.

There are people who breed what they call "golden" but it is not standard for a Yorke and how they got that color is pretty questionable as far as purebred breeding goes. There is only one color accepted by the YTCA for Yorkies, however, with the Yorkie being such a popular breed there are a lot of people doing some non-standard breeding.

Basically it doesn't matter if you don't mind but I do feel for people who put money out expecting a purebred that actually looks like what they paid for..... and then don't get it.

There have been several new owners that have done DNA tests on their pups that have been here on YT. One in particular I remember got a pup that's hair never grew. The DNA test did show it to be a Yorkie. Some people questioned the viability of the test while others said it was just bad breeding that caused the problem. The owners loved their pup anyway. It is not the pup's fault, it is the breeder and their practices that it goes back on.

Your trying to do everything right and you will get a lot of help here. I hope everything goes well for you.

While yorkies come in many shapes colors and sizes, I have to say they don't look like yorkies to me (or at least full yorkie) and they also look very large for 7 weeks. I think you've been bamboozled.


They are cute pups though for sure.
