Maybe it's the grains that are causing him trouble. My yorkies are on Blue Buffalo grain free. You can make the switch without having to integrate the old to new food (no diareaha). Most pet stores will take food back if you keep the receipt (Petsmart for sure), if it doesn't work out. |
I had a yorkie that ate her poop. I was told the reason for this was the poop smelled like the dog food, reason she ate it. I just made sure when ever she pooped I was right there to pick it up. When she would approach it I would tell her no, but picking it up as she was approaching the poop. This was a life time procedure, no matter what food she ate. the lil guy I now have (newly adopted) I have seen him TRY to eat his poop, I make a noise that he knows it means NO, and he'll back off. Being he is adopted I don't know if he did this with the prev. owner so I watch him. I have recently changed his food to limited ingredients, sweet potato with venison, he has not gone near his poop, but I watch him carefully and pick up poop as soon as he's finished, but I have seen he has no interest in the poop. Good luck, I hope you can find a solution for your baby. |
BTW Pet supply will also take back unopened food, of course you need the receipt. |
Back when I used to feed kibble, Wylie ate his poop as a puppy for a while. I bought Solid Gold's SEP (Stop Eating Poop) and it worked immediately - so I highly recommend it. As for crying when pooping, that really concerns me. You could try giving pumpkin, but I'd also head to the vet for further guidance bc that's not really normal. |
