| ![]() This story angers me so much and it not even this story but the countless number of other stories about animal abuse. I have written a research paper before for one of my classes on animal abuse and the amount of cognitive ability that dogs, and many animals in general have.. and it just angers me that animals do not receive the protection that they deserve. And for a VET to do this.. really makes me question how he became a vet in the first place.. hope someone cages HIM like he caged Sid. There was also a recent article written about a chimpanzee named Tommy who was living in a soiled dirty little cage. (http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/27/ma...east.html?_r=0) People do not realize that animals can FEEL PAIN AND SUFFERING just like a human! When an animal suffers how do you think they feel knowing that they will never be free!! There have also been recent studies done that allowed researchers to study the canine brain by use of fMRI (the dogs weren't harmed or restrained in any way.. the dogs could freely leave if they wanted to.) They found that dogs can FEEL emotions and there have been other studies of a dogs capability to love.. dogs release oxytocin in presence of their favorite person/care giver just as humans do! I can't stand that there are no rights for animals when there is proof that they are sentient beings JUST AS HUMANS! So many poor dogs in puppy mills, shelters, animals being abused for research. Animals such as chimps have the ability to feel and understand that they are suffering.. Dogs can understand they are being abused in mills. I wish I could just go and open the cages of all the abused animals in the world and let them free. There has also been a story about a company in China with a video that went viral of men beating dogs with bats to kill them so they can sell them for meat. ![]() Sorry, I just needed to let this out. It makes me sad and angry at the same time. ![]()
