Oh I recognized that posting with the Swarovski crystals and that long haired chi- gorgeous work across the board and yes, very expensive. Did you say that you bought Galen a suit from them verbana? I sold on etsy for a few years before it got so big and honestly the hours I poured into it, the material costs, photographs ad resizing and posting (ok I am so not a computer whiz) and then when I got more serious and worked on my advertising and joined a group and hosted the blog and all the emails and special orders and...sigh. Whew, I can see why a lot of things cost a lot. And then it breaks my heart when inexperienced sellers come in and post a product at a price that breaks the average and plummets the worth of my product. But they better have raised the animal they made that cute skull vest out of and tanned the hide themselves (hide tanning is a lot of work) to charge that much for a cute little vest :) I didn't like the girl one myself.

The vest was not leather it was micro suede.( fabric). I know what it takes to do beading and sewing etc. . . I did costuming . .. for people. Elaborate gowns and mens attire. We researched the time period. With a friend of mine we make a period Elizabethan gown with standing ruff and cuffs. I hand beaded the lace and the dress. I have done Italian ren and many other periods.

Oh I am in love! Yes you should go back to sewing :)

I know it wasn't leather, I was just joking about tanning hides ;) (well, except it is really hard work)

I bred and raised show stock angora goats and sheared and prepared (skirted, picked, washed, carded, combed, blended...) spun into yarn, dyed (acid dye, natural dyes, hand painting) knitted, felted, bla bla bla! And man, it just broke my heart sometimes for that deep and thorough dedication and detail I gave to my work to have people just buy some roving to spin (wool?? What kind if sheep was it?!) pre dyed and spin it up put their handmade tag on it and who would know the difference between that and long hours mucking out barns an trimming feet, hauling hay and coaxing newborn babies to their mothers teat?
Like you said- researching eras and hand stitching beads! It is truly a labour of love :love:

Oh I so want to learn how to felt . . .i wish you were closer or I would be knocking on your door ;)

I do not mind buying things that people work hard to make. I have many times. I have beautiful hand made pottery, dishes bowls and mugs. And a few other things lol . . But I don't want people to be ripped off either.


It is a labor or love. . . I just do not have the room to set things up. We are working on the house too which makes it even smaller then it already is . . .if you can believe it lol. . . I will get back soon. . . I need inspiration lol

I like needle felting better than wet felting :) hee hee, I am not as good at wet felting! I got so deep into spinning I forgot to knit, then so deep into fiber processing I forgot to spin then so deep into goat/sheep managment;fence repair, hoof maintenance, parasite management and nutrition ratios that I lost the fiber work and it went completely out the window! I mean shoved in my closets. I think I could have balanced it if it weren't for that whole five young children/employment/housekeeping thing ;)

So I toned it back down, sold most of my gorgeous stock to a woman who owns a yarn shop (did I mention I found out I am allergic to goats, hay, dust and rabbits while I was at it these last five years?) and remembered that I like to knit and that's how this whole thing got started :love: made two sweaters this year so far!

I think that handsome Galen swagger is enough to pull out the pinstripes and detail a suit! :rose: well, except that clearly by my description above I must be a crazy....

Seriously neither is worth the money, but you are right (even though I don't care for it) the girls vest should be priced higher. I believe those faux metal studs are like the iron on ones I have bought from Joann's, they are not expensive or time consuming to apply.

When you sew as well as you do Teri, it is hard to justify the prices some people are asking. I really hope one day you get back into it.
