Bless my boyfriend's poor ignorant heart! ♡ 1 Attachment(s) Hi! New to your forum! I discovered it due to my bf surprising me with a beautiful yorkie female, named Bella (soooooo not original I know). After reading a few posts, I realize that she is much too young right? She's only 9 weeks according to her shot records. Giving her back isn't an option (my heart is hers completely). I have already booked her puppy wellness visit with my vet. My gosh she is soooooo tiny yet full of spunk! She has already had my much bigger spaniel jumping for higher ground due to her chasing him around. She also kept me up a bit with her whining after crating her overnight. I'm so happy I work from home because potty training her at such a young age is going to take a lot of patience and time (pads are not an option right now). I've had mixed yorkie pups before but never a purebred. I'm happy to be a new mommy yet so nervous! |
Hello, welcome to YorkieTalk! Bella is a little cutie pie :) |
welcome to YT and congrats on your new lil furbaby Bella. Yorkies are a high energy breed no matter how young or small they may be. Zooming around the house jumping, leaping is a yorkie thing. Your spaniel is safe on higher grounds for now until lil Bella learns how to jump. What a sweet BF to give a you such beautiful gift. Good luck |
Thank you for the warm welcome! I'll let my older baby know he's safe for only a little while! Any tips or advice I need to know? Anything you can share is much appreciated! ♡ Is it ok that the top of her head is mostly brown already? |
welcome to yt and congrats on bella. |

Welcome to YT! She is a little ball of sweetness! At 9 weeks old the advice I offer you I hope you take. Never ever leave this pup alone for atleast 3 weeks. She is tiny? How much does she weigh? First off my concern is that your breeder is unethical. A reputable breeder does not let a pup so young go this early you need to monitor this pup closely and watch for symptoms of Hypoglycemia and also for Coccidia which is common within BYB and other unethical breeders. Any change in your pup needs to be taken seriously and a trip to the vet immediate. Young small pups like these can go down hill very fast. Did you get a health guarantee? I would link you here but honestly the best thing you can do is read as much as you can here and especially the "STICKIES" - THE LOCKED THREADS AT THE TOP OF EVERY FORUM, honestly read and reread and do NOT be afraid to ask any question. You will get honest and blunt answers because we at YT value the lives of all pups! Good Luck and keep an eye on this pup, relax but be aware! |
Thanks! That's why I titled my thread as such! His intentions were good but he doesn't know anything about Yorkies! All he knows is that I've expressed interest in having one. I left a message for this so called breeder but no response so far. I'll let you know her weight once she has her visit. So far she's eating and playing but I'm worried about the hypoglycemic issue. I'm careful not to play with her much and let her get her rest as much as possible. Until her appointment, I'm going to be on pins and needles! Words can't explain how tiny she is! |
There are two books that I recommend to all my new owners...."Yorkies For Dummies" is the first and "Yorkshire Terriers: A Smart Owners Guide" is the second. These two books will get you very well informed about Yorkies, and teach you enough to keep your baby safe! Please get them and start reading! |
Thank you so much for the book recommendations! I'm looking to see if they are available on amazon or Apple add downloads right now! I did speak with my bf after looking over her shot record that she came with and he became a bit defensive. Guess he thought he was being ungrateful. I told him I was grateful for his thoughtful thoughtlessness! Lol. I'm happy I found this site!♡♡♡ |

Welome to yorkie talk! Bella is a beauty :yorkieg:  |
Oh my. Your story is scary and now I'm more scared than ever! |
Awww, welcome home Bella! I brought my Jackson home at 9 weeks and all was well. He WAS a bigger boy though -- he was already 5lbs at that point, LOL... so I know the tinier ones can be a bit more high maintenance. But I'm sure all will be fine. :) Best wishes!! :) |
