| Note to self...DO NOT visit the shelter... when it's pouring rain! The poor doggies, they were all soaking wet but didn't want to stay in the dry bed area bc they wanted to see the people & wag their tails @ us! I cried my eyes out, I always do but my heart was breaking for them even more today. I dropped off some supplies & food, visited w/every dog that was in the front cages, ready to be adopted. They even had huge chickens & a duck! It sounded like a farm, dogs barking, roosters crowing & a duck quaking. When I saw them, they made me giggle, made me feel a little better (IDK why, maybe bc I didn't expect to see them there?). The duck had his own kiddie pool in the kennel. If you're anywhere near the Pasadena SPCA, you can go see them. My next pet will come from a shelter...Please ADOPT your next pet!

| When I was looking for a year in the shelters for a small terrier before I got Tibbe, I left each one with such a heavy heart that finally I couldn't go back after over twelve months of looking. I signed up for several small dogs but was always second on the list to a rescue organization or occasionally, an individual. Others they wouldn't let me have due to severe aggression or other un-adoptable reason. The bully types were never adoptable to anyone but their former owners, sadly. Looking at their beautiful faces would just cut your heart out, knowing they likely wouldn't be reclaimed. Years back, I used to go get some of the worst off dogs that were set for euthanasia and bring them home, vet them, nurse them back to health and fitness, rehab them. Back then they were mostly big, powerful dogs that others had given up on. It was the most satisfying thing in the world to bring home a sick, starving, soon-to-die dog and help him restart his life and work with any behavioral issues! Our country should be so ashamed of its throw-away innocents!

Guess which dog was the only one pulled out to be seen? The smallest Chihuahua mix, he was a cutie. Nobody looked @ the beautiful pit mix whose tail was wagging so much that he wiggled his butt & a stunning red husky w/piercing light blue eyes. I think I was the only one looking @ the roosters & ducky (only if I lived in a house w/a huge yard). There was a really sad looking dog whose hair on his head totally covered his eyes, he was soaking wet, just sitting there by the front of his kennel. Cry sob tears!

I will never forget a little B&W Spaniel I once saw, a dog for some reason I instantly called "Larry" in my head for some reason, so jaded to people he wouldn't even get up when I approached his cage and looked at me as if to say, "Don't expect me to get up and act all happy - I know no one will want me. I'm thin, my muzzle is snipey, I'm not much to look at and I will shed so don't even bother me". I did call him over and eventually he got up and came and interacted in such a friendly manner and got happy - very happy. He was a different dog! I sat there and played with him for 15 minutes out of sheer guilt and then, because he was a shedder and I'm allergic to his type of coat, I had to leave him, I knew, so I stood up. By now I was really hurting over leaving him. He turned and slowly walked back to his bed and gave me one last, knowing look over his shoulder that told me "I knew you didn't want me", curled himself up in a ball and put his back to the front of his stall. I left there so heart-broken and guilt-ridden. He wasn't "cute"enough for someone to pick for his looks, he wasn't frisky and just begging for attention and his coat was one that many don't care to have in the house or are allergic to. I'm pretty sure he didn't make it and I'll always feel guilty over "Larry" and have never forgotten him.

| I used to visit the shelter a lot but I finally couldn't take it any longer. I would read the story on each kennel and stand there and cry. Some of the reasons for surrendering their dog was so dumb. Looking into their eyes break my heart and bum me out for the rest of the day.

| Jenny, you are very sweet to drop off supplies. I can imagine how heartbreaking it is to visit the shelter and see all of those sweet faces in need of a loving home. When I see the shelter dogs on Facebook, I want to go adopt them all. While I support ethical breeders, Max and Teddy are my first and last dogs from a breeder. I plan to adopt again in the future if I have another dog. We tried before we got the boys, but our shelters only had large dogs at the time -- and we cannot have a large dog (adopted one before), simply not suited for us, so would be unfair to the dog.

| I want a duck lol I love ducks they used to have one at my other Grandmas house and it was like it would kinda peck your leg but it wasn't hard it was like a tickle. I could not imagine though how sad it would make me, my mom and me always make my dad drop off stuff for the shelter when we have stuff because we would be crying and probably getting another dog. I have decided any dogs I get from here on out will be rescues maybe one day I will get a pup from a great breeder but I really would rather rescue.
