Maybe found one of my new babies- question 1 Attachment(s) Hi there! For those who didn't read my intro message, I have been looking to add a yorkie or 2 to my family. I have been looking around for the past couple of months. I came across this little gal below today. She is a little over 8 weeks old and if we decide to get her would come on Valentine's Day. Based on her picture, I'd like to know if you all think she will have what some have termed a "babydoll" face. I am not interested in an extreme babydoll face, but I do find the look of the shorter snout very adorable (but yes I agree all yorkies are adorable short and long snouts, both). Thank you and I look forward to hearing your opinions. :) |

The puppy in the picture is adorable, but it is impossible to say from one picture what her adult face might look like. It is difficult to tell on a puppy. Not sure if this link will work, but this is my Max at 10 weeks: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...ictureid=80848 Although his face looked compact as a puppy, he is not a "babydoll" short snout adult. You can see his adult pictures in my album. The best way to guess how a puppy may mature is to look at the parents. |

1 Attachment(s) Attachment 396337 This is Kiwi, one of my Rainbow Bridge babies. She and her two sisters had what might be called baby doll faces. I can't seem to post the photos in one post, so I have to do them separately. This puppy is really adorable, but I can't tell if she has a short muzzle. Nevertheless, she's precious! |
1 Attachment(s) Kiwi is the one with the floppy ear up front. |
1 Attachment(s) Gracie, my little one, had a very short muzzle. She joined our family when she was 6.5 months, so I don't have baby photos of her. |
1 Attachment(s) Lastly, this was our oldest, Ashley, and a link to her photo as a baby. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/alb...ictureid=95482 I hope you find a baby who will steal your heart away. As you already know, these little ones do that to us. |

Tonight (after about 2 months of looking) I took the plunge and made the decision to go ahead and pay a deposit on a different yorkie (a 5 month old yorkie girl). I had just found this one that I posted the picture of and have been talking to the breeder off and on all day , but of course I haven't gone to see her yet. I will be visiting on Friday and if everything feels right and checks out, then I will have my 2 girls in just a few weeks. Cannot wait! I am a stay at home mom, and I have been "nesting" (buying supplies and getting my house puppy-proofed)that past 2 months just like I did with my human baby girls... Haha! |
I am assuming that you have not seen both parents? Are you familiar with the pedigree or the background of the parents? I know you are only looking for a pet but knowing about the ancestors of the parents will give you a better idea of what you can expect from your puppy as it gets older. There are a lot of genetic weakness being bred into Yorkies these days. Did they tell you what kind of health testing they have done on their breeding stock? Have you been to the place where the dogs are bred? Did you find them through an online search? Almost all online searches for purebred dogs are puppy mills or brokers. They come up on a search because of the high numbers of dogs they deal in. There are certain key words that these people use. "Baby doll face" is one marketing ploy along with "tea cup" and "miniature." Please be careful about who you are dealing with. You could be opening yourself up to a lot of heartbreak. There are "sticky" threads throughout YT that you might be interested in ready. They are quite informative. The "Yorkies for sale." area has a good one about buying a Yorkie puppy. |

Sorry if this is a double post. Something happened when I tried to hit reply last time and I had to login again so I am retrying. Quote:
No, I did not find them through an online search. I was referred by a friend about these puppies. I have only been in communication with this breeder for one day so I cannot tell you yet what the home they are raised in is like; however, I can tell you it is NOT a puppy mill. I have waited for the past 8 years to bring home another baby yorkie, and I have been actively searching for around 2 months and if I don't like what I see/find out when I go to meet her on Friday, then I won't be moving forward and leaving a deposit on her. I have not problem with walking out and saying "no". Also she did not describe them as teacup or babydoll face. I just used that word "babydoll" as a descriptive adjective pertaining to the size of the muzzle. Also, I have not seen the parents yet either, only photos of both of them. I will be able to on Friday. One thing I never have been aware of was the suggested 12 week bring home age because of socialization. 2 of my past yorkies were brought home at 10 weeks if I recall correctly. Another wasnt until 12 weeks. They were all fabulous, but I do have to admit that my Abby who was brought home at 12 weeks always had a truly special place in my heart. I appreciate all the information on this site I have gotten so far. You guys are fabulous! |
she is adorable |

If they are well socialized and healthy 10 weeks is fine, I know a few reputable breeders who will let their pups go after 10 weeks |

Sending prayers your way for a beautiful healthy puppy. They can do so much to fill up our empty nests when the kids leave home. My kids swear my pups are more spoiled than the grandkids are lol. |
