Hi there! For those who didn't read my intro message, I have been looking to add a yorkie or 2 to my family. I have been looking around for the past couple of months. I came across this little gal below today. She is a little over 8 weeks old and if we decide to get her would come on Valentine's Day. Based on her picture, I'd like to know if you all think she will have what some have termed a "babydoll" face. I am not interested in an extreme babydoll face, but I do find the look of the shorter snout very adorable (but yes I agree all yorkies are adorable short and long snouts, both).

A reputable breeder will not let there puppies leave there mom before 12 weeks.

Ok, so 10 weeks is definitely too young then? She actually told me that her vet (which is a local, reputable vet in my town) said he wouldn't give the go ahead to send them to a new home until at least 10 weeks which will be Valentine's Day. That's just what i was hoping. However, if he doesn't give the go ahead then, she said she is waiting until he oks it. I of course would wait until it is a safe time.

The puppy in the picture is adorable, but it is impossible to say from one picture what her adult face might look like. It is difficult to tell on a puppy. Not sure if this link will work, but this is my Max at 10 weeks:

Although his face looked compact as a puppy, he is not a "babydoll" short snout adult. You can see his adult pictures in my album.

The best way to guess how a puppy may mature is to look at the parents.

Oh my goodness! He is adorable and actually his face (snout length) is perfect to me! He is just beautiful.

I meant to add this- I guess the reason I am wondering about this is because one parent has a more compact face and the other is on the longer side from what I could tell. Out of her litter (3 girls) she has the most compact face of the 3.

Yorkies who go home before 12 weeks are normally gonna have biting problems, socialization problems and potty training problems. There mother is still teaching them up to 12 weeks. The Yorkshire Terrier Club of America say 12 weeks also. Also to make sure you get a healthy puppy you need to make sure the breeder does health and genetic testing.

This is Kiwi, one of my Rainbow Bridge babies. She and her two sisters had what might be called baby doll faces. I can't seem to post the photos in one post, so I have to do them separately. This puppy is really adorable, but I can't tell if she has a short muzzle. Nevertheless, she's precious!

Gracie, my little one, had a very short muzzle. She joined our family when she was 6.5 months, so I don't have baby photos of her.

Thank you for the compliments on Max. If I pulled his hair down and gave you a good profile shot of his face, he has an average size Yorkie snout.

Lisa, I love this baby picture of Kiwi! All of your pictures of your Rainbow Bridge babies are beautiful. They were darling girls.

Aw.. Look at her sweet face! Such beautiful babies. Thank you for sharing them all with me!

Tonight (after about 2 months of looking) I took the plunge and made the decision to go ahead and pay a deposit on a different yorkie (a 5 month old yorkie girl). I had just found this one that I posted the picture of and have been talking to the breeder off and on all day , but of course I haven't gone to see her yet. I will be visiting on Friday and if everything feels right and checks out, then I will have my 2 girls in just a few weeks. Cannot wait! I am a stay at home mom, and I have been "nesting" (buying supplies and getting my house puppy-proofed)that past 2 months just like I did with my human baby girls... Haha!
