Hi Sandi, welcome to Yorkie Talk. Jake is a cutie and I am so happy you found a new little fur kid after your sad loss of Jax. I'm Sandy too, and I have 3 Maltese/Yorkies and 1 Yorkie..... all girls. Good luck with the potty training. It must be hard with the cold weather you all are having. My girls are spoiled, and lately don't want to go outside because it is pouring rain. Pee pads are good for that, however I sometimes regret that they also teach doggies that it's ok to potty in the house. Then they can't tell the difference between a pad and a rug or a bath mat, etc. and use them all. |

Hi Sandi, welcome to YT. It's addicting! I have a Cavalier that was potty pad trained as a puppy, then outside trained. We added our Yorkie, Puff, and she is potty pad trained. Luke, the Cavalier, hates to go outside if it's too cold, too warm, too windy, too sunny, too rainy, too snowy, or just doesn't smell right  and will go potty on Puff's potty pads. As long as it's not in the floor that's ok with me. Lately my biggest potty pad problem is that one of our cats has started using the potty pads and he balls them up and tries to stick them in the corner! Anyway...I'm so sorry for the loss of Jax. That must have been heartbreaking! Again, welcome! |
hoping that will be the case with Jake...he loves going outside with Gus and just follows him around, and sniffs but doesn't potty...soon as the weather is a little better, i will stay outside with him longer and try the leash in the yard also and hopefully he will get the message... Jax was a really sweet boy and i still miss him a lot... |
