Hello and welcome to YT. He is such a cutie |
welcome to yt!! Jake is a handsome boy! |
thanks! he sure is a rascal...torments the kitties and his brother Gus all day long... We lost our 6 month old yorkie mix, Jax, in the beginning of October...it only takes a second for something to happen...He was outside in our fenced patio and I was shampooing the carpets...he had his puppy bumper on that prevents him from getting out, under or through the patio fence...unfortunately, the side gate had somehow come open :( he was an adventurous boy and he must have immediately run out on our road...he was out no longer than 5 minutes and when i went out to check on him, i didn't see him at first...went down the driveway and he was laying in the road, his puppy bumper just a foot or two away... i'd like to think that the person who hit him did not see him because no one was out there...it all happened so fast...needless to say, i was devastated, and my husband equally so...i've never grieved so hard or so long and he was only with us about 4 months, but he was the sweetest little boy, and so smart...i felt so guilty for so long and still do...would have, could have, if only etc... of course i wanted another puppy and about a week later i found Jake....right now with our weather so frigid, he uses puppy pads in the house and is usually pretty good about staying on those...i take him out with Gus when we have a warmer day, and he follows him all around the patio, but he doesn't potty out there...comes in and does it on his pad...going to have to work on that a lot harder but it is so cold right now, and windy a lot of the time... anyway, enough about me and Jake :) glad to be here with all of you wonderful yorkie lovers! :aimeeyork Sandi |

Love the picture of Jake under the tree! Welcome to YT! |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk |
Hi welcome to YT you have a cutie |
Hi Sandi and WELCOME :)!!! Jake is just adorable - love his picture. I'm so very sorry about your loss of Jax, how heartbreaking. I'm sure Jake is helping to mend you heart, but losing a pet is so utterly devastating. My condolences. |
Hi and welcome to Yorkie Talk. |
Sorry about the loss of your pup. Sadly, we cannot change the past but we can work at making our future better. Gracie was trained on potty pads but later learned to go outside. You will be able to work on it whenever this winter is finally over. He is such a cutie but still young. He will probably learn a lot by watching your other dog. |
Thanks for all the welcomes! yes, hopefully he will start pottying outside...just took him out today 'cause it's not too cold out, but he just smells around a lot and that's it... he goes out when Gus does too, follows him around...but... |
Hi Sandi, welcome to Yorkie Talk. Jake is a cutie and I am so happy you found a new little fur kid after your sad loss of Jax. I'm Sandy too, and I have 3 Maltese/Yorkies and 1 Yorkie..... all girls. Good luck with the potty training. It must be hard with the cold weather you all are having. My girls are spoiled, and lately don't want to go outside because it is pouring rain. Pee pads are good for that, however I sometimes regret that they also teach doggies that it's ok to potty in the house. Then they can't tell the difference between a pad and a rug or a bath mat, etc. and use them all. |

Hi Sandi, welcome to YT. It's addicting! I have a Cavalier that was potty pad trained as a puppy, then outside trained. We added our Yorkie, Puff, and she is potty pad trained. Luke, the Cavalier, hates to go outside if it's too cold, too warm, too windy, too sunny, too rainy, too snowy, or just doesn't smell right  and will go potty on Puff's potty pads. As long as it's not in the floor that's ok with me. Lately my biggest potty pad problem is that one of our cats has started using the potty pads and he balls them up and tries to stick them in the corner! Anyway...I'm so sorry for the loss of Jax. That must have been heartbreaking! Again, welcome! |
hoping that will be the case with Jake...he loves going outside with Gus and just follows him around, and sniffs but doesn't potty...soon as the weather is a little better, i will stay outside with him longer and try the leash in the yard also and hopefully he will get the message... Jax was a really sweet boy and i still miss him a lot... |
