Mork is Getting Spayed Today The Vet moved the day up and Mork will be getting spayed today instead of on Friday. Please pray that little Mork's surgery goes well today and with no complications. I'm so worried about her. Little Oreo, who is slightly smaller than Mork, had such a rough time when we got her spayed. It was awful. She was not feeling well for two weeks. The first night home, Oreo screamed all night and I slept on the floor with her for several days. Also, she had to go back to the Vet several times and was provided with stronger pain medication and Valium. I really hope Mork's surgery is much easier. The Vet assures me that the experience that we had with Oreo is very unusual and that it isn't likely that Mork will have these problems but I'm still worried. Thanks |
I'll be very happy to read your post when Mork is back home and in your arms. These little ones have a more difficult time with being spayed, but Mork is young and should bounce back quickly. I didn't need anything with my girls in the past, but a soft cone or a baby onesie put on backwards might make Mork feel more comfortable than a hard cone. |

All of mine had internal stitching, too. Because it's sore and she won't understand why it hurts, she might try to lick it. I bought a onesie to keep her from licking her wound, but I never needed to use it, so I returned it. I think if I had not been able to monitor my little ones all the time, I would have used onesies just in case. I'm so sorry Oreo had such a difficult time. It's so heartbreaking to see our babies afraid and in pain. |
sending many prayers for Mork to have a safe procedure and fast recovery. |

Thank you rubymoon2072! It is much appreciated! |
I am sure your baby will be fine. My little Bean was spayed yesterday. I took her in at 7:30 am and picked her up at 3:30. She didn't eat or drink and slept in her soft carrier all night. She was up at 5 am this morning wanting to be loved on and to eat. Oh, she also had ten baby teeth extracted! My baby is 6 mos old and is doing great. My prayers go out to you and your baby. |
Praying for Mork and a comfortable night tonight. My Jilly was 6 1/2 before I could chance having her spayed and she had an uncomfortable night though she mostly slept and made teeny whining sounds if she moved much but my Tibbe does that any time he's had anesthesia. Scares me to death but they usually do fine in a day or two if they don't have complications and most don't. Just give her the pain medication as prescribed, keep her from jumping, and be sure to ask the vet what to do if she seems highly agitated, highly restless or whining a great deal or is shaking a lot and it's still an hour or two before her next dose of medicine. A lot of vets will say call me or go ahead and give her the next dose an hour or two early if she seems to be in a lot of pain and watch her closely. I hope is all goes well for little Mork, you get "the call" she's awake and well soon and she recuperates quickly. |

Thank you!! These are all things the Vet will be asked. I don't think I will be able to call her after hours since her office is only open from the hours of 8am-5pm but she might know of somewhere that can be called after hours. I wish I had known to ask these sorts of questions of my Vet when we took Oreo in to get spayed. I would have called in the middle of the night because she wasn't whining, she was screaming. I know now that they can have complications and I won't make that mistake with Mork. |
I wanted to let everyone know that the Vet called and Mork is out of surgery. They said that everything went as expected and that she is doing fine but it will be a little while till she can be brought home. |
Wow, that was fast. I just saw this and was getting ready to send prayers, and she is out. So I'll just send prayers for her speedy recovery. Don't forget to take pain meds home. All my girls were a little groggy for the first day or two, then snapped out of it and I couldn't hold them back. I hope Mork has it that easy too. |
yay so glad Mork came through safely. I bet you can't wait to pick her up!! |
Just seeing your post and so glad Mork's spay is done. Praying for her to recover quickly and be home with you soon! |
So glad to hear that Mork is out of surgery. I would ask your vet for his/her cell number. My Vet gave me hers after LCPD surgery and I used it. I would also put a onsie or sweater on your pup. I tried the cone and Hannah would not allow it. A onsie will also help keep her warm which I think is important right now. |

Good for Mork! Glad she made it through successfully and hoping and praying she's going to do fine these next few days until she's absolutely recovered. And if she does have complications and your vet isn't reachable, locate the nearest ER vet to take her to during the hours your vet is closed. They will treat her if she has any problems but likely she'll do well. |
I'm so glad Mork's surgery is behind her. I hope she heals quickly and is soon free from pain. She knows how much her mom loves her, and that will help her to recover quickly. |
Mork is home and they've sent home tons of pain medications. |
So glad Mork is home and safe. Lots of TLC and she should make it through okay in a day or so. By the weekend, she should be acting fairly normal but I wouldn't let her jump or run until the vet says it's okay. |
Mork's spay I'm glad it went well. I remember when my little girl was spayed. I was so worried, but it turned out just fine. She didn't seem to need pain meds after the 4th day . I did use a soft cone on her for the first couple of days. I tried her without the cone and since she didn't bother the incision, I didn't put it back on. So, here's good thoughts coming your way, hoping everything goes well for you and your baby. |
Sweet dreams to little Mork; hope she has a good night, and feels better tomorrow. |
Thanks everyone for your well wishes and your advice. I wanted to let everyone know that Mork slept through the night and today she wants to play. It looks like she will be ok! |

Thank you! The Vet says that her internal stitches should heal in 10-14 days. She was going to go to obedience class on Monday and puppy play time on Sunday but I think she have to wait at least a week for obedience class and skip puppy play time this week. |
