I love these happy updates. That is fantastic that Milo is eating well and that Cassie is too. It may take a while for her to accept him, but I'm sure he will win her heart eventually and they will be buddies. Kissies to all :D |
Update Leaving soon for Vet appointment. Milo still eating like little piggy. Crys a lot when I am not there. Cassie needing lot of holding and love, not eating that well. Question, I am having trouble posting pics and videos. He is so gorgeous and amazing. I am frustrated. How many K are in 1 M. Trying to get my photo down to 200k on Elements, but still don't know how to set the image size numbers. Also, How do you post a video? I have two. Otherwise, all is well, with the exception of Cassie going on strike since Milo has arrived. Will update again soon. Love, Shellie :D |
I'm certain there are others here that can help you with the picture and video posting. I'm lost when it comes to that sort of thing. Good to hear Milo is thriving, now Cassie needs to do the same. Hope the vet visit went well...anxious to hear all about it. |

It's wonderful to see the happiness in your posts now! I'm sure Cassie and Milo will be the best of buddies. |
Oh my gosh, Milo is just adorable, and a perfect little Yorkie boy! Have fun and keep smiling. Kissies to Miss Cassie too, we will never forget what a strong little fighter and survivor she is. |
Cassie will be teaching him all the tricks before you know it... |
Milo and Cassie update Hi all Thought I would give you an update on the pups! Firstly, I just found out Milo has giardia. I don't know what that is or whether to be super worried about it, but my Vet will speak to me tomorrow about it. He was hypoglycemic today, had white gums and scared me half to death. Rubbed Nutrical on his gums, fed and he is back to himself. Had TWO dinners tonight and is eating good so far (crossing fingers). I have him in an XPEN with potty papers and water, but he lies on the potty papers, and then tries to eat them or pull them with his teeth. I was told not to free feed for potty training reasons. He seems to want to eat three times a day though, not four, although I've tried. Milo loves his little rope toy so much, but I am afraid he is pulling out the fibers sticking out, with hit little teeth. Is a rope toy a good idea? I know he loves this toy so much, but I worry if he is safe with it. Cassie my little angel is still very angry and sad. I really do think she feels betrayed. I give her lots of love and attention away from Milo when I can, but she still seems upset. And Milo requires so much of my time, what with watching him for hypoglycemia, potty training, and giving him his supplements, etc, it just takes a lot of time. Cassie seems to be eating well, especially around Milo. I have them in two separate Xpens, one right next t the other, so they can see on another, but Cassie can have the peace she needs and Milo will be protected from Cassie's snapping and growing behavior. Both pups are my little loves. Poor Milo, he only wants to be friends with her, and play, but she is having none of it right now. I think she is having magical thinking right now, like, maybe if I don't acknowledge him right now, hell disappear, and everything will go back to the way it was. Sigh, I hope things change soon. Both my babies are the most precious things on this earth to me. Any suggestions on any of the above, always welcome. Namaste, Shellie:) |
Also, how many naps a day, and for how long, should a 3 1/2 month old puppy be taking. Just need a general idea. |
Although I don't have any advice for you, I wanted to drop in to say congrats on your new baby finally being home. I forgot how much time these little sweethearts take. I know that before you know it they will get along and all your hard work now will have paid off. They will have you laughing at their antics together. Milo is SO handsome!!!:) Cheers! |
So glad you knew how to watch for and deal with his hypoglycemia - so scary! Glad to see both doggies doing well generally and Milo is a doll! I know he is helping your heart heal! Cassie may not feel up to forming a new relationship or playing right now or just needs more adjusting. Just about nothing is cuter or sweeter or more of a challenge at times than a new puppy! :) |
Sorry you are having a few problems. Giardia is a parasite that causes intestinal infection, and can be passed to other dogs & humans. Get treatment started asap, and find out how to clean to not spread it. How much does Milo weigh? It's good that you are home with him to watch for hypoglycemia. Good luck. |
Puppies take frequent naps but should wake up with lots of energy and ready to go again. I assume your little guy is still quite young. He needs to be free fed especially since you are dealing with hypoglycemia. Pups start to develop the ability to control their bladder and bowels at around 16 weeks of age. If you find a good secure puppy pad frame it will help discourage him from destroying them. Giardia is a very contagious parasite that can cause a lot of gastrointestinal problems in puppies. Clean up any poo he does right away and use a good disinfectant to clean the area. Pups can easily get re-infected by walking through their mess. It many times causes a lack of appetite so you are going to have to watch his eating carefully to keep his blood sugar up. Right now his calorie intake is the most important issue. Try to keep your other dog from getting infected. |
Hard to get an exact weight because he won't sit still on the baby scale LOL But as far as I can tell, it's 1 lb 11 oz. I'm going to reweigh him now as he is sleepy and maybe will lie still for a second, ;) Quote:

Thanks all for the great tips. I am very grateful. This new puppy thing is a bit daunting as I haven't had a tiny one for quite a few years, so I've forgotten everything :( But thanks to you all, I'm starting to remember stuff:) Milo's appetite waxes and wanes. I keep getting different advice from everyone and therefore am quite confused. My breeder says to free feed, my daughter in law and Petsmart trainers says he'll never get trained if he is not on a feeding schedule. Put him in an XPen and put him on a schedule. Breeder says not to put him in the Xpen, as he would be much happier in a room with just a gate up I think my Vet also said to put him on a schedule. The trouble is that he doesn't always eat on a schedule, and i've resorted to feeding him baby chicken stix which he eats ravenously if I hold them and he can knaw them down while I hold them. He's not eating much of his kibble so my Vet is putting him on supplements for Vitamins and minerals, Calcifood, and Catalyn. I'm trying different things, but I keep changing things because they don't seem to work. This is a work in progress and the faster I find a solution that works for us, the faster we can get into a dependable routine. So here's hoping :) |
