Ohio 35-40 below 0 / asked to reserve our gas useage & lost power! Omg we are due to get -35 to 40 below here in OHio for the next two days. And I get a call with a recorded message saying to reserve our gas usage due to inadequate or lack of supply . . OK will do ! No, using the dishwasher / nice  No, doing laundry / even better   No, hot showers / Yikes... :thumbdown Than today I get woke up at 6:30 this morning to my hubby shinning a flashlight in my eyes because we lost power. Well that will sure put a damper in our gas usage, no electric means no HEAT. So anyways I jumped out of bed and checked on the pups. I was so scared that our heat would be out for days so I sent my hubs to go get some kerosene while I got the kerosene heater ready to go just in case. Which by the way he was asked to do and should have been done last night but someone decided to sit on their butt and play Splay Station. I don't know what we would do if we don't have a back up plan. Thank goodness our power came back on in just over an hour but at least now we are prepared !! Hoping that everyone effected by this same weather is staying warm, stay Safe !! |
Oh my goodness, I've been watching about all this on our BBC News....horrific, frightening conditions....:( I truly wish you all the very best, will be thinking of you all, and hope and pray that this passes quickly for you - hope you manage to get your back-up heating sorted soon, too...:) Love and a (warm) hug from Sally + Harry xx |
Oh that's scary. We lost power during the ice storm and it stinks! We have wind chill of 15 below zero. I can't imagine lower than that. The wind hits you and it feels like needles on your skin!!! Stay warm! |
Wow I hope you get your power back soon |
Thanks ladies... the power was only out for a little over an hour. But who knows what is in store for us these next few days ! :( |
Sending warm thoughts to all of you in the freezing weather. Stay in, and keep your pups warm. |
Wow anything below 40 I have not experienced here in CA...can't imagine minus degree coldness brrrr! Stay warm & safe, hope your power doesn't go out! |
I would freak without power in this cold. I'm so happy it was a temporary thing. Stay warm! |
Wow! I can't even imagine. Right now our wind chill is -8 and I'm beside myself. Stay warm. |
It was 14 degrees here this morning near Dallas and around 7:00 am ERCOT sent out a message to conserve electricity or we might have rolling blackouts(!), like we had in 2011. We had two or three of those rolling blackouts back then and I was praying we didn't get any repeats of that as I had forgotten and turned my thermostat down very low yesterday evening when the house seemed too warm and woke up to a below 60 degree house and was getting it warmed up with the central heat running full blast for a bit. I was sure hoping it could get the house warmed up enough to tolerate before we lost power but then about an hour later, ERCOT rescinded that emergency power message, saying they had generated more power and we were out of the emergency but still conserve, keep the thermostat set at 68, etc. Tibbe got up, ate, went potty outside and went back to bed, where he still is! Everybody up north and northeast of here in the dangerous weather, please stay safe and keep yourself and your babies warm. It's scary cold in some places and I'm praying you all stay safe. |
yikes I'm glad we are not below 0 at least not yet. I would be cuddling in a million blankets with Callie lol |

No warning with our electric, its bad enough that the gas co. has put limits on our use. Good thing you are doing well in your parts ! |
Gees, it's just above +32 deg here, you guys are making me feel very lucky ! They say it will drop to a +27 tonight, very unusual for my area. |
