It's 52 here now and you would think it was -50 with the way people are whining here at work  |

WOW... that's just crazy !! Im not sure why our power went out but it sure put a scar into us. Hubby went out and got and new Kero container and more kerosene. We haven't even use the first one... Quote:
Geesh . . what I wouldn't do for +50 degree weather right now. |
We started at 59 this morning, now we're at 1-yes 1. Windchill puts it below that! Brrrr. |
It don't take long for the temps to drop . . Thankfully our temps here in Ohio are on the rise...if you call -20 below a rise. this morning we were at -30 below. |

I feel your pain Dawn, our temps are the same as yours are and I am so afraid that our furnace will give out, several days straight of it running full on makes me nervous. We have gas heat and I can not imagine what our bill will be for this month, it's been in $500.00 range for normal winter months in the past, so this will be interesting. |
they just had a news clip of a woman in Detroit who has a newborn and no heat for three days. |

I know ours too !! You can just hear it whining up higher and higher. We are on the budget so ours stays that same each month but it may go up when they do the next six months analysis. Quote:
Oh NO . . why wouldn't she call for help sooner ? |
Quote:
Yes, Jeanie it is possible !! We are Living proof . . you can come for a visit if you like and get a taste of what our Ohio winters are like. :D Even my dream at night are of WINTER !!!!  |

We only have a couple of shelters in our town that have limit to the number of people that they can take in. So our local Red Cross chapter have set up a worming station that they say will be turned into a shelter facility if need be. But still the majority of homeless are in the inner city and just the walk along to the Red Cross would be life threatening. |
stay warm as you can and be safe |
OMg we are at +8 and -8 wind chill. . . Such a considerable change from this morning ! |
dog Does anyone use generators? We have one and when the power goes off here my husband puts that on and it works. You could probably use that tn some stuff even an electric blanket so everyone could stay warm. I am praying for warm weather to come to you. We are so spoiled in California. People running around in shorts! I really hope this is over soon. You are all good people and Yorkie lovers. How do Yorkies go outside to do their business in such freezing cold? Poor Yorkies |

No, but been talking about it now for years. We probably should make the investment. The potty breaks seem to get fewer in this type of weather. Believe me they hold it in as long as they can before they burst but yes our pups go out for just a few minutes at a time never for any longer. Sometimes we need to force them to go out but they have to go and we rarely need to call them back in. My pups hate the rain much more than they do the snow. On warmer days they love to go out and play. |
