I knew nothing about dog licenses till I got papers from the county saying I needed to pay $10.00 for the license. Then my vet explained that once she submits papers indicating Magnus got his rabies, the county send out notice saying I need a dog license. Some parks require the dog has the rabies and dog license tags visible to enter the area. I don't think there's anyone that really checks though... |

Your getting off cheep if its only $5 . Its always a good idea to license your pups and put the tags on their collars. Its just one more way of identifying them if they get lost. Its mandatory here in Ohio and our cost is $22 per dog. The cost has risen every year for the past three years. We use to pay only $11 per dog and that has now doubled. Plus if you do not pay by the dead line it will also double to $44 per dog !! Just last summer unlicensed dogs without tags were being seized by the dog warden. Not sure how they thought they had that right but they did. Ohio county strong arming citizens into getting revenue – compliance sweep of unlicensed dogs has seized 100 so far, threat to euthanize! | InvestmentWatch |

I would have to say the licensing tags and her identification tags are more important. Those are the two that I put on my pups. If needed you can always show proof that she has had her rabies vac. Its not a matter of animal control taking her, if there is ever that rare chance that she does get out. Anyone who finds her can call the warden and they can tell them where she lives or give your information to them for a quit return home. :) |
