Stolen Yorkie in Laguna Niguel CA. Help me find my baby! Hello everyone! I was recommended to this sight through @teddyandlola on instagram. They have been following me through the dissapearence of my baby, Ozzy. He dissapeared after midnight and before 9 am Saturday morning. Upon his dissapearence, my family went to the nieghbors houses and drove endlessly around the neighborhood searching for our dog. All of the gates were closed, but we do have a doggy door through the back so my yorkies can go to the bathroom freely throughout the night. In the morning, the were no signs of animal attack, nor had the neighbors heard or seen cyotes or bobcats. In order to fully understand the conclusion I have come to, you have to know a bit about Ozzy. He is the sweetest dog you could ever hope to meet. He is also about the laziest dog you will ever meet. He will not walk out and about in the coldasac unless his brother, Sparky, is about in the coldasac. His interest is much more on the lap of whomever is sitting on the couch. He is a bit goofy looking, but absolutely adorable. His tongue sticks out quite a bit because it is too long for his mouth. He never turned silver like his brother, but instead retained his puppy coat. He is about 5 years old and about 10 lbs. The only times he has gotten out, the gate was visibly opened, and he and Sparky walked through my neighbors garage through their doggy door and hung out with their dogs until discovered by my human neighbors. My neighbors garage was halfway open that night. Skip to Saturday morning. I have been posting ads like crazy on Craigslist, and filling my social media accounts with the notice of my missing dog. Nothing. No word from any neighbors, no sightings, nothing. Skip to Sunday morning. After visiting the local shelter and adoption center at the mall. I recieved a phone call. It went something like this: "Hello?" "Hi. I saw your ad on Craigslist about your missing dog. I was just wonderin', because my sister found a dog that looks similar to yours except it's a female. Is there any health issue that would cause a dogs tongue to stick out like that?" "Well with mine no. His tongue is just too long for his mouth." "Oh, because the one my sister founds tongue sticks out and he head kinda tilts to the side. It kinda looks like she had a stroke or somethin'" **Note: Ozzy sometimes wobbles his head like a baby struggling to hold his head up** "Well, is there any way I could possibly come see the dog, just to be sure it isn't mine?" "No. I'll send you an email with a picture. My email is on the Craigslist ad" **Note: There is no ad for a found yorkie in Orange County** "Well would you mind if I get your phone number, in case the email doesn't go through?" "Click: dial tone..." Due to her calling from a blocked number, I could not call her back. I immediately called my father, and then the police. An officer soon arrived at my house, but said there was no way for him to get her phone number due to the lack of evidence. He also said that even if she said she had my dog, there was no way to get the number because the present situation did not involve a threat of life or firearms. I have been in backwards circles, hitting walls every which way. I was told by a Sargent that I requested to talk to personally, that basically this woman gets to walk away with my baby. I am beyond frustrated, and quickly losing faith. I am doing all I can in my power to do. All I ask of my fellow yorkie parents is that you send warm thoughts my way. Please, please, be on the lookout for a black yorkie with tan legs and a tan face and ears, with his tongue sticking out of his mouth. He never makes a sound and has a hernia next to his groin that we were about to get removed. He is a bit heavier, not fat, but not an energetic one. When he sniffs you, he moves his tongue to give you a kiss, but doesn't do more than lift it at an angle to touch your skin (due to the whole 'it being already outside his mouth' part). I live in Laguna Niguel in Southern Orange County, CA. Thank you in advance for your support! Please help me find my baby! Also, I am offering a cash reward as an incentive to the woman who has my dog. I have posted this repeatedly on Craigslist, but with no luck so far. If you see a woman with a yorkie with the description of my own, please let me know. He could be anywhere by now. The woman sounded as if she was anywhere between 20-40. I can be reached at (949)-228-2964. ANY information is valuable and highly appreciated. I am utterly heartbroken and I just want my Ozzy back. Thank you so much for your time! Happy New Year to you all and best wishes! |
Hoping for the best and that your pup will soon be found. |
Hope you find him soon! Craigslist is full of crack pots, probably someone just crank calling you... Keep calling the shelters. Post some flyers in your neighborhood. |
You need to send a letter with a picture of your dog to the vets in your area, stating that he was stolen. Also by law you need to run an add in the local news paper lost/found section with the date your dog went missing. This will prove that you did what you could to let the public know of his disappearance. Dogs are considered property & by law if you find property NOT belonging to you , you are required by law to turn it into the police OR in this case the local shelter OR place a public add witch would be in the news paper lost/found section . If you place an add you need to get a copy of it, if you see someone with your dog then you will need to prove it's your dog and that you ran a public add that he was lost/stolen. I'll be praying for his safe return. Also you must check shelters in person & do NOT just call to ask if they have a dog fitting your dogs description as too many times the shelter workers mislabel dogs breeds, in other words too many don't know a Pitbull from ShihTzu. |
Was your precious lttle baby microchipped? That will be a huge help in getting him back to you.....Praying you get your baby back..... |
So sorry to hear about your baby and I certainly hope that he will be back in your arms soon!! I live in Canada, so can't help you from here except to say that I am sending loads of positive vibes your way! You are doing your utmost best and I feel a good outcome. |
I am praying that you find your Yorkie. I can't even imagine the panic you must be feeling. I would have family members and friends scour the neighborhood looking at neighbor's windows to see if your Yorkie is in their window. Ask everyone you meet to spread the word of your missing pup. Put up a lot of posters. Walk the neighborhood carrying something like bacon that might lure him to you if he is running loose. Don't give up. Sometimes dogs are found days later still wandering the streets. Please post updates. |
Here are some site that might also help you. Pet Amber Alert | Find Lost Dogs | Find Missing Pet Lost And Found Dogs - Petfinder The Center for Lost Pets - Using the Internet to Reunite Pets. Lost a Pet? Found a Pet? We can help. Also all your local pounds. Sometimes people dump them off in other areas. Aso you can contact vets in your area and let them know. |
Prayers you find your baby! |
Does anyone have any connections at Sprint ...to help find Ozzy? Hi there, I'm Teddy and Lola's mom. We are praying for you every night that little Ozzy comes home to you safe and sound. I looked through every Craigslist ad that I could find for anything that might sound like your baby. I was thinking, could you have someone post an ad saying that they are looking to buy a dog (and have it loosely match the description of Ozzy? Maybe in a section of California other than right where you live? Also, does anyone on Yorkietalk have and connections at Sprint? They could potentially help to trace the blocked call. |
Praying for a happy ending...that you find your boy safe and sound...that he'll be home with you and back on your lap. Keep looking...do you have a picture of him to post here and maybe we can put it on our Facebook pages...inquire at every vet, groomer, pet store...any where that has a public bulletin board. Knock on neighbors doors, leave flyers every where you go. Put a flyer in the window of your car as well...you've already said that you are offering a reward, that's good. My prayers will continue...please come back and update when you can. |
I hope you get your little guy back. Alerting local vet offices may help if he has a microchip but his distinctive tongue issue may help a vet or the staff to identify him as well. Usually coyotes would not be able to jump a fence with a 10lb pup so it seems unlikely a coyote took him. Hopefully you don't have big cats where you live. Don't give up. We recently had a member who recovered her Yorkie after 3 years. Keep putting up posters with his picture and continue to check with the shelters. Staff does not always keep up with missing dog reports and as volunteers come and go they are not always aware of the descriptions of missing dogs. |

We have gone to the shelters every day that they have been open, and we are going to the shelters in Northern Orange County tomorrow. Iv'e also gone to all the vets in the area with his picture and description, as well as the groomers and pet stores and dog parks. The police officer said he would take a report of a lost dog, but thats all that he could do. I haven't gone to the paper, but an overwhelming amount of people at my work have asked for fliers to copy and pass out. I am praying that something works, but I am losing faith quickly. |

Unfortunately not. Due to that the cops won't help us. They told us if he was microchipped they would help us track him. |

We are so perplexed because nothing ads up right. Everyone had been saying coyotes probably got him, but everyone in the neighborhood hears them when they are around. Our fences are also solid, and the highest in the neighborhood, and our back fence is up against a steep hill, so the chances the coyotes jumped over is slim. No big cat predators in this area either. We have searched for his body just to see if he was taken by wildlife, but haven't found anything. My other yorkie doesn't seem to smell him at all when we walk him. Praying he turns up. Thank you for the hope! |

I have tried calling out "food" which is really the only word he responds to. Lol. He loves to eat. I went around making clicking noises which I use to call my pups to me, and even took my other yorkie around the neighborhood and places Ozzy might be, but he didn't seem to sniff Ozzy or anything unusual. My neighbors have been helping us search as well, and I have been taking your suggestion of looking in windows and through the backyard fences when visibility allows. Still praying! |

Thank you so much for all of your help! I have been looking for yorkies for sale in San Diego County and LA County, but haven't seen anything close to my unique Ozzy. Still searching and praying! I have even called on the ads that just mention found dog, and so far they are not Ozzy. |
And thank you everyone for your responses! I can use all the prayers and positive thoughts I can get! Also, I don't know how to post pictures on this site, but here is a link to one of my craigslist ads. It has a couple pictures of Ozzy on it. ***LOST YORKIE***CASH REWARD LAGUNA NIGUEL GOLDEN LANTERN! |
Have you heard anything? Is your pup microchipped? |
Oh no. I just saw this and my heart literally breaks for you and ozzy. I will pray every single day for you both. I hope you are able to find him :( I can't even imagine... |

Praying your baby is found. I know he doesn't have a chip, but does he have a collar with tags?!? Have you created a post on Facebook yet? You could share it with your friends and ask them to share it!! Perhaps you could somehow convince the local media to help you out as well...and you could try Backpage, which is simlar to Craigslist. Also have you checked Ebay?? I believe they have some kind of free classified section bc some girl was selling her yorkie on there recently. Just recently, Another member found her yorkie after he disappeared 5 years ago. It had been so long that she had even moved out of state. She was just reunited with him in November....so never give up on your search!! |
Praying he is returned to you soon. |
I saw and shared the post on Facebook...it's a long shot as I have few friends in California. But you never know who may see it and know something. Do not give up hope, he's out there somewhere and somebody knows where. The reward will hopefully get a response...but be careful. Around here the local papers are the best place to post ads, that and Facebook. Why would the police help if he was micro chipped and won't help otherwise...makes no sense. Praying for his safety and return... |
I have a bad feeling the people that called you has him...I hope they have a change of heart & return him to you if they do indeed have him. Besides, the police can't track pet microchips...they're not trackable like a gps device. It only works if it's scanned @ the shelter or vet. |
What you must be going through just breaks my heart!!!! Wish I could help but I'm in BC, or else I would've. I too have a suspicion that the people that phoned you have him. Why else would like to know about the history of a recent dog? Sounds too much of a coincidence to me. My heart continues to go out with you. More good vibes sent your way!!!! Can one protect themselves from this ever happening? By that I mean, short of a watchful eye, perhaps fenced in, and leash on is common thinking. Sometimes in the house I don't know where Bailey is, this is partly due to his small stature (7.5lbs), but still it could've turned out to be a lot of searching if he went o/s w/o my knowledge. Does one just have to wait to see if the dog is brought to a vet; of course assuming that they were chipped? You are posting and advertising in every way possible that a wonderful mama like you does. How lucky for Ozzy to have you!! Just thinking that perhaps a neighbor of the people who, perhaps, have him (hopefully they are living in your neck of the woods, so all may see/read the posts up about him) will question them and/or call the police. Good luck in your search and I will be dropping in tomorrow hoping for a 'welcome home' tag. Fingers crossed for you and Ozzy. :( Ozzy... where are you??? |

Most newspapers provide free lost and found ads if you don't use a picture. Radio stations will also provide free lost and found ads. Make sure you keep reminding all these places about your dog. It may seem hopeless but it's not. A dog that is lost and scared many times will find a place to hide out. Even a regularly friendly dog will become scared when out of it's element and avoid people. They can last an amazing long time on their own so don't give up. If those people have him it is still possible that he could get away or they may decide they don't want him after all. I remember one case where a friend of a lady that stole a little Yorke turned her in when he saw ads for the missing dog. |

For this person to call the OP blocked and then not want to give up any info sounds suspicious to me...of course, there are a bunch of weirdo's that scan CL everyday. To the OP...if you do actually have any leads on your dog, please make sure you take someone with you if you meet anyone and be careful about what personal info you give out because people can try to prey on your tragedy... Nothing like saying they've found your pup just to try to get the reward money out of you. Criminals and con artists use CL to find victims all of the time. |

All very good points!!! It's amazing what one will do w/out thinking it through, at such a confusing time as looking for ones dog. Sending best vibes for a happy outcome. |
