Our breeder had us fill out a long questionnaire and asked lots of questions over the phone. She also had us send a hand towel with out scent on it to Zeus a week or so before he was to come home. I feel really good about the experience we had and I would definitely go to her again to get Zeus a playmate! :)

My breeder, Pam, asked lots of questions. I started the conversation with a decription my family and home life. I asked more questions than she asked as I think I covered a ton in my "let me tell you about us" ramblings. She felt good about me and I felt great about her, but since I was so far away, I needed more visual information on the pup.. I asked for some pictures and dictated the poses I wanted to see. She sent them out quickly. I was pleased with what I saw and sent a deposit.

She did ask me questions that I felt only a yorkie or small dog owner would know... Stuff that I could not BS my way through. I liked that, like she was testing me kinda...

Then I learned of an unhappy customer of hers. A couple who bought a pair of pups. One tested for liver shunt... and months later the other tested high too... There was a site with tons of info about the dogs.

Needless to say, I was alarmed! I write to Pam who called me up instantly! And we talked for a very long time. At the end of our discussion, I learned that she had tested her dogs and the stud who tested high had been removed from her breeding program, and that she has never had any other occurance ever. She did offer to return my Deposit! I thought that was very straight up! She understood my concern and did not want me to feel like I had to buy the pup. I declined...

I am very happy with her and I feel like she is very happy with me! I fly out in 8 days to get her!!!!!

I spoke to the breeder for over an hour. She asked lots of questions about the type of home I had (kids, space to play, the amount of time I could be with her, etc.) She flat out told me if she didn't like my beliefs towards raising a dog, I wouldn't have gotten one. She wanted to really be sure of the type of home her pups were going to.

When I bought Bell, the person didn't ask any questions, Zip, Zero, nadda!! When I put my boys up for sale I knew the one lady and the other went to a family that I had spoken to twice on the phone, and then met the whole family here in my house and I didn't ask many questions except the usual.. With that I knew how many people were in the family, where they lived, if they owned their home, where they worked, if they ever had dogs before.. what kinds. so on and so forth.. Its important to me where my dogs end up.. even if they are only pet quality!! :p

Oh yay, finally a contest I can win! ;)

I was referred to Shelby's breeder by another breeder that spent a long time talking to me. Then her breeder wanted to know everything about me, I stay at home, won't leave her more than 4 hours, no small children around, I was required to buy an expen, and get a whole list of other stuff. After all that I didn't get to pick her up, the breeder delivered her so she could see where the pup would live. (she also brought a car full of stuff I would need)

At the time the whole experience had me pretty stressed but I know she went through a lot to make sure this little girl was healthy. I am very thankful she cared so much and I am pretty sure she feels the same about me.

Coco's breeder and I talked almost daily if not every other day until Coco came home. Needless to say she was probably happy to get rid of me..haha...She asked me general questions and then she asked how much I knew about the breed. She went over the breed info. I sent her pictures of my house. She asked if I had small children and I told her I did not. She asked because Coco was sooooooo tiny. Also if I'm going to spay her when the time comes and so on. She also asked me to send her pictures every so often of the little one..hehe...I liked her breeder a lot.

I've had a Yorkie "own" me for 18 years:) With my first baby, the breeder asked me a few questions about the breed itself, if I had ever owned one before, and if we had children. At the time, I told her I had never owned one and there were no kids in the house, Katie would be our "first". I answered her questions and she answered mine. With Gabby, my second baby, I knew the breeder (local) and she knew me - we use the same vet. So with Gabby, there were no questions to ask as we already knew the answers. Gage is a different story. Being a "rescue" from an acquaintance, there were no questions asked other than "Do you want him?" and "When can I get him?". There is not a day that goes by I don't thank God for sending Gage to us. I doubt he would have survived staying in that house much longer (he was chained up outside when I arrived to pick him up!! - some people should just NOT own pets of any kind!).

I was definitely more talkative than my breeder but she asked a lot of questions about our home. She was concerned about my son who was 5 at the time but I told her that we had a dog before and that he is being prepped on how to handle a small puppy and she just wanted to know how I would confine him and if I would be around or if I worked outside the home. She also told me to read up on having a small one and about the various health issues which I had already done. After speaking she told me to wait and think about it for another day and get back to her if I was still interested. We put the deposit down that night!

My breeder was so helpful in answering all my questions but did not ask us much. She did ask me what would we do when we will have to move back to the States (since we are currently in Germany)and of course we told her that we would take her with us. Many Americans deploy and leave their pets behind filling the animal shelters here in Germany. Germans are quite annoyed with this and afraid and I do not blame them.

Same here. My breeder asked a lot of questions over the phone. She is in another state and would not sell her puppy to anyone who wouldn't meet with her in person. She told us if she doesn't feel comfortable with us when we meet, we will not have her puppy. More questions during the meeting and lucky she let us take her little baby girl home. She is such a wonderful puppy and we are so lucky to have her. I think our breeder had more questions for me than I did for her. :)

I talked to both Mickey and Minnies breeders on the phone for almost an hour before going to meet them. they asked quetions and I asked lots of questions. I got my pick of the litter from minnies breeder only cause I refused to budge with out her.she was the runt. lol and Mickey was the only little guy left by the time I got there and I was just as happy with him. We got shot records and the papers from both breeders. Mickeys breeder sent cesar food and a tube of vitacal supplement that she gave out with all her puppies and a Yorkie pad with all her info on it. we stayed at each breeders house for hours and I still call them both and send them pictures of Mickey and Minnie every few months.

I keep in contact with my breeder for a least two weeks before I got prince. She did ask basic questions, I was sure to ask alot, and with every question she anwsered every one. When we went to pick him out for sure (I had already told her which one I liked the looks of from pics she sent) and take him home she gave me his paper work, a guarentee on his health, a puppy care info sheet, a small bag of food she was feeding him, and a little pound puppy that had his mommys and sis and bros scent on it! She was very nice, didnt seemed concerned that we had children and a big dog because i believe she also had a big dog and i think 4 or 5 children. I had a great breeder I believe.

Let's see .... an arm, a leg, our firstborn, financial statement & a schedule of our lifestyle!!! ;)

Just kidding about the firstborn! Our breeder is wonderful and I have come to appreciate her "pickiness"! We were working in Missouri at that time & she was located in Marietta, GA. Her vet, who directed us to her, lives about 45 min. from our home in AL. We met with Dr. Lucy a couple of times and I totally understand why one would drive all the way from Marietta, GA for her to care for their babies!! She is wonderful! She patiently answered all the questions and we have her on "speed dial" both at the office & at home and are encouraged to call her night or day with any problem/concern and believe me we have! We had a bzillion conversations with Ava before we actually had an opportunity to meet and that was a fluke. We have a very busy lifestyle and travel so much ... her first inclination was to turn us down flat! We happened to be home visiting in late October, 2003 and she happened to be bringing her clan to Dr. Lucy's for checkups, dentals, etc. BTW ... when she comes to the vet they proclaim it "Ava Day" and the office is closed. So ... we were invited to "Ava Day" and the rest is history!! Toto was 16 weeks at that time [although she did want to keep her for about 8 more weeks!!] and since we had "forced" a check on her for "pick of the litter" [which she never cashed!] .... she went back & brought out the first little darlin' and it was just an instant thing. We looked at Toto and that sweet little face with the sparkling, intelligent, black button eyes, and that tiny sliver of a tongue and she was silently stealing our hearts! We didn't even want to see the others! We "negotiated" [my husband's profession] ... we signed contracts [in blood], we promised, we pleaded, etc., and finally, finally we took the first step of the most incredible journey of our lives and brought the tiny little bundle of energy home! ;) We, of course, stay in touch with Ava and feel so confident that we can and do stay in touch with her ... she is always happy to answer any of our questions and she wants to hear about her precious baby for her entire life! :)

BTW .... I hope every single one of you can truthfully make this statement .... "we have more than lived up to our end of this contract and have kept every single verbal promise that we made"!! I know that everyone expects a breeder that lives up to his/her end of the deal but he/she should be confident that we will live up to ours!

My breeder is a family friend, so she didn't ask me anything. But I actually get the feeling that she doesn't really ask a lot of questions to anyone. Not the greatest practice...I admit.
