| Panting ???? Hey all! Happy New Year! and I was just wondering what it means when a dog pants? Why do they pant? Is it because they are hot or nervous or what? I took Louie and Bella out for a ride tonight and Louie was shivering but panting, so I figured it couldnt be because he was hot right? |

| I think its normal for dogs to pant. My puppy shivers everytime I take him out of the house. I haven't heard him pant yet but my previous dogs pant even when they are sitting. I think its just a way for them to sweat. |

| panting It was probably anxiety and excitement from the car ride.. They pant from the heat, pain, anxiety. |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | My pom pants all the time. Vet said she was a highly excitable dog plus she has tons of fur. Cali will pant once in awhile when she has been playing real hard.

| Sadie pants every time she knows I am getting ready to leave. She hates being alone. It is almost like she is hyper-ventilating. Kate

| Panting can be a symptom of anxiety. Did he stop when he got home?

| Lexie pants for many reasons...happy, anxious, nervous, tired, excited, sick, hot...etc. It is hard to tell but she does it a lot. I don't think it is always a bad thing and my vet says to just make sure she has rest and water and is not exposed to too much heat. She is easily excited...That's about all I know...i hope this helps some...

| definitely anxiety is a possible cause.....Edie pants on airplanes early in the trip, but then she settles down. I know it is because she is a bit anxious at first. |
