Hi and welcome - there's a ton to learn here and good luck with your yorkie....On the word "Teacup".....People were just helping you out ...if you plan to breed... then you will probably get some great advise & a good place to start is the words and terms that apply to yorkies :)

I'm so glad your daughter rides.It's a wonderful way to enjoy the outdoors and bold with an animal.I ride western and have a Paint mare that I love as much as my Yorkie Dottie

I am new here myself. I have a pup boy named Zoe. He is 2 1/2 months old. We welcome you to yorkietalk. Its the best thing I've done since I got him.

Kim, I just wanted to let you know that the term teacup doesn't offend me at all... ;)
I just feel that it is so over-used by greedy people to make tons of money off of people who otherwise don't know any better. I decided a while back to not let any terms to describe yorkies bother me...that I would just classify them as tiny or bigger. I just felt that our new member was a classic case of the mis-information that so many people have caused over the years. I mean she thought her 6 lber was a t-cup and that really tells me that most folks are really CONFUSED now days concerning t-cup, miniature, standard, ect...Thats all. :) To me, they are just yorkshire terriers, and they come in all sizes and shapes and I happen to really like the smaller one's! :D

However, her dog is NO where near tiny...Her dog is 6lb 4 oz.

BTW Welcome to YT! If you have conversations with The Breeders here...They should send you in the right direction! :aimeeyork

Hi and welcome.
Good Luck with your plans to breed your pet. 6 pounds is a good size..4 yrs for a first breeding is not as good..but work closely with your vet and all should go well. Ideally, a breeding before 3 is recommended..but it does not mean there will be problems.
We have lots of information about breeding..again best wishes

I agree with Pat that it is not as good...but it sure is better than if she were extremely young. When I stated 4 yrs was really good, I was happy to hear that it wasn't a first heat cycle approaching and already making breeding plans.

She's pretty. Does she have down ears? Thats usually genetic. Maybe her hair wasn't clipped on ears... My boy prince had a down ear once until i shaved his ear and "poof" it went right up!

I was trying to not be so confrontational with it is all. :)

Robbie~ I didn't think it offended you, but I know it offends "some" and I probably could've used a different word :rolleyes: but I think she understood what I was getting at. I thought your post was very respectful and nice. :)

My fault about the ears.I hope she'll forgive me..LOL
I didn't keep her ears clipped when she was young.Shes a sweetheart though.
I would like to say,i am not breeding her to sell any of her puppies.I have wonderful homes waiting.And of course.One for me and the studs owner

Oh gosh, just noticed this...I grew up surrounded by horses on my parents horse farm. We had quarter horses. My sister went to Congress in Ohio 3 times and she kicked butt with "Okies Bay Moon". We were so proud of her. She rode western and huntseat. I'm mostly a western gal myself when it comes to riding! My dad passed away a few yrs back and my mother sold out of the horse business. :(
My sister who is 25 now, gave riding lessons for a while then went on to college and became a nurse. I miss the horses and the barn and everything involved growing up.
