Do you think Cherry is full yorkie? 4 Attachment(s) I love her regardless, of course. I am just wondering. She has a good bit of white on her back paws, and a bit of white on her front. White on her neck/top of her chest. The vet said she's not, because of the white, but I think maybe the vet didn't know about parti yorkies? Anyway, here are a few pictures. One picture is in the second post. Is it just too early to tell? What do y'all think? |

cherry looks all yorkie to me but i am by no means an expert eye. she is adorable either way and i love her name. tooo cute. |
She's still really young but she looks yorkie to me. With that said, her colors will change as she gets older so she might look more "yorkie" later on. BUT, please keep in mind that even "full yorkies" might not look like a standard yorkie. Many members here have yorkies that are plus size, floppy ears, hair color variation, etc... If you're really that curious, you can get a DNA test one. I think it starts around $50? |
She looks all yorkie but possibly is a parti carrier as well like my Lenox. I've seen Lenox's parents and know the breeder, so I answered my own question..lol ;) |
Such a cute little baby. There is just no way to tell at that age. I have seen litters of half Yorkie pups that looked much like purebred pups. As they age the differences start to show up if they are mixed with something else. The best way to make sure your pup is purebred is to buy from a reputable breeder and check out the parents and the pedigree. All AKC registered dogs have pedigrees. I think the official standard for Yorkies says that white can only be on the top of the head. Whatever that little one is it is truly beautiful. |
I would say with the patches there is probably something mixed in there. The party colored yorkies look more like the biewer. |
Cherry is adorable. She looks all Yorkie, but the white color on her paws is unusual, I believe, for a standard Yorkie. Standard Yorkies will have white spots on their heads and chests sometimes. I agree with Gracielove, you will just have to wait and see. Enjoy your pup. |
she could be a parti carrier |
I was raised with Yorkies and I think she could have a little something else in her. |
She is beautiful regardless. However, i dont know that she is purebreed. She has a yorkie face, but the hair on the paws and texture of the hair seem a little thicker and not like "yorkie hair". She most certainly has yorkie in her. But time will tell. Enjoy many happy years with your baby! |

I have a friend that has a "Morkie" that looks an awful lot like your Cherry, right down to the cute little marks on her feet! She was the reason I chose a parti yorkie. I loved her coloring but I wanted a pure yorkie so I sorta knew what I was getting. |
I would say from the looks of her, she has something else mixed in. However whatever it is sure made her a cutie pie- she looks like she has a wonderful personality as well.. |
GAH! I'm going to go crazy waiting to see what she'll look like. I do hope she's pure yorkie, because I LOVE the way yorkies look. But of course, she'll be adorable regardless. Whatever she is, she seems to look a lot like a yorkie, so hopefully that will continue as she grows older. Regardless, she's pretty much got us all wrapped around her little paws, so even if she turns out to be totally weird looking, she'll be the star of our household! HAHA!! She's currently sleeping next to me now looking completely adorable <3 |
My first thought was def Morkie - maltese/yorkie. Seen mixes very similar! She is very cute. |

:) Congrats on your new addition to the family. I just saw your video of her playing with her new toy, how totally Adorable!! When seeing her on that video my fist impression was that she was not full Yorkie. Than when I saw her little tail curled up on her back and how fluffy she was it sort of verified my suspicion that she is more than likely mixed with something, a black and tan Pomeranian would be my guess. She is very cute and spunky that is for sure. |

I didn't get her from a breeder. Or at least, I didn't think I did. Turns out the lady I got her from is probably some byb. She told me she was pure yorkie The vet tech during her first round of shots said he thought she was full yorkie, maybe a grandparent wasn't. But he said she looks all yorkie to him, besides the white, that is. I guess we'll just see! Her hair's starting to poof out a bit more. Can't wait until it grows! |
Looks like a Yorkie puppy to me. I read and have the Gordon/Bennett book that is said to be quoted here and seem to recall the white on toes remark from reading it. I suppose if white can be on toes of puppies, it can extend to cover the foot. Correct Yorkshire Terrier Coat Ajjls Yorkies |

Looks as if she might be in that tri-color classification. |
With the rough start Cherry had and the great save you made, she could be purple and I don't think you or anyone else would care. I think she looks more yorkie than anything else, but I have decided that nothing but a dna test will make me believe anything. I know a lot of folks question the validity of the DNA tests, but I feel like it is the most reliable thing out there at this time. They only go back 3 generations right now, but as more are tested, the accuracy will improve. I love seeing pics as Cherry grows! She has at least 3-4 more color changes ahead to look forward to. |

Haha, it's true!! She had us all wrapped around her little paw within a day or two, and we're more and more enamored with her every day! Thank you for your kind words. We did get off to a rough start, but we care so much about this little one. All we want is for her to be healthy and happy. :heart to I may do a DNA test, but I'd probably do one on my other dog first, as her mix has had me puzzled for years!! I can't wait to see the changes to her coat. I can already see some silver or maybe tan on her head at the roots. |
She's cute, but she definitely looks mixed to me. She looks almost identical to my Scarlett at that age who is most likely Maltese/Yorkie and 15 pounds. She had very similar markings. |
My Gizmo according to my vet is a standard yorkie, with a parti gene mixed in somewhere down the line because he has all 4 little paws with a bit of white at the ends, but she also said its possible for that white to turn to tan as there is so little of it, and that he's still too young yet to tell. The only thing I notice in the pics is that the fur on his feet looks quite sleek and short, where gizmos is long and silky. I'm going to watch the video of your cherry. Oh Gizmo also has his whole tail and its straight with no curling up. |

I'd love to see some pictures of Scarlett! |
K I watched the video and her tail definitely is different in the way it goes up over her back. gizmos goes straight out or straight up but doesn't have that curve. She's totally adorable :-) |
From googling, she does look a lot like a morkie. Do morgues change color like yorkies? Would that also explain her curled up tail? |
