I am having a hard time resisting.... 1 Attachment(s) I've wanted a little girl for so long, and I've always wanted a little one that loves being carried around. I really don't "need" another dog and I love the babies that I have, but I keep going back to her picture on Petfinder(Petfinder Adoptable Dog | Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie | Washington, MI | Posh How can someone not love that little face?!? Has anyone owned a 3 legged yorkie?? Generally, 3 legged dogs seem to get around fairly well. It seems like a lot of them don't even know their leg is missing...but with yorkies being so small...it makes me wonder what kinds of obstacles there would be. |
She is beautiful! I don't know that a 3 legged yorkie would have any more problems than a bigger dog. I do think that would make her less desirable for adoption to the general public and that if you take her, she will be a very lucky pup. Good luck with your decision.:D |
OhMyDog she is the cutest little thing ever!! Do you know her age & weight? You better be careful or another YTalker is going to snap her up! |
I would snap her up in a heart beat. It wouldn't matter to me if she only had 3 legs. I would however be sure to have a medical fund just in case. But she is so adorable. |
She is so cute!!! I think you should go get her!!! |

She's a doll! |
OMGosh!!!! She is adorable!!!! I wanted to tear up when I saw her picture because all I could think of is that all she wants is for someone to love her. Darn good thing it's too far for me, or I may have to snap her up! :) Good luck in whatever you decide to do! |
I can't bring myself to click on the link and read her story. I know it's going to make me want to cry... I remember watching a show where it was about animals with "disabilities". The narrator said the animals don't really realize that there's anything "wrong" with them and it's more of the human's take on them. I also remember seeing a 3 legged fox at a small petting zoo. I saw him running around with his mates. And you know what? He was the FASTEST among all of them! :) I think if you can afford the time/money on adding a new member, I would think this is a sign. ;) She's absolutely adorable. |
What a precious face. If you want her....and we all know you do.....go get her and give her enough love from all of us. However, I would jump quick, I bet she will be gone soon. You are a great person for even wanting her when a lot wouldn't. A match made in Heaven! :) |
Do it! Do it! Do it! :D |
I've never seen a 3 legged Yorkie before, but I have seen some small dogs, 10lbs and under with 3 legs. The only thing I've seen is that they aren't as fast as a 4 legged. She is beautiful, and does need a loving home, it would be great if you could provide that. Good luck, and I hope you do give in. Disabilities don't make us any less than anyone else, unless we let it be so, same goes for animals. Cheers Quad:aimeeyork |
awww shes beautiful and they have carts you can buy also so that she can run and play as if she had her four legs still i belive they make them for three and two legged dogs. i say gooooo for it. |
Omg her face is beautiful, I'd take her in a heartbeat. |
keep us updated as to your decison |
What a little beauty!!! I don't think being a tripod is a problem for most dogs, especially if the missing limb is a hind one. You should get her!!!! I'd hurry too! :) |
Aw she is beautiful. Bless that sweet girl. If you can have her why not!!?? |
I say go get her now. Don't even give it a second thought. My friend has a shih Tzu that has three legs. She adopted him when he was 2 years old and he is now 9. No problem keeping up with the other two dogs. He is such a love and he gets up on the bed better than my shih Tzu with 4 legs. |
I saw go get her, she is precious |
I am going to call on her today!! The SO is worse than I am. He's justified it by saying "well, technically, you aren't adopting a whole dog....she's only 3/4 of a dog~LOL!! I am not sure how old she is and what her back story is, other than a vet clinic has taken her in and amputated her deformed leg. I am definitely interested to hear how she got there and why she's up for adoption. My first guess was that maybe she was surrendered bc her owners couldn't afford her medical bills/amputation. I am a bit worried about how my boys would act if I brought home another dog. They have become best friends, but I recently babysat another dog and it totally upset the balance at my house. I suppose a lot would depend on the little girls personality. I really lucked out with Ricky. He is sooo easy going and submissive that he would blend into any family, including with my fearful, insecure, dominant older male dog that hates too much excitement. On the other hand...I swear my boys know their own kind. The dog I was babysitting was not a yorkie and it was a bit bigger than them. I haven't seen a yorkie my boys haven't liked yet~whenever they see other yorkies, they always get excited to see them. |
Yaaaay!!! Let us know what you decide...she is just beautiful, and the fact that you cannot stop thinking about her might just be fate. ;) |
I love your SO's sense of humor. And it's wonderful that you two are on the same page with these type of things. Also, I heard numerous times that if you put a male/female together, they won't fight. And I think that's true for the most part from watching my two. Even though Magnus is on the mellow side, Zoey does push his buttons often enough to a point where he does show he's the alpha. But I've never seen him so much as actually nip at her. I sincerely hope things work out for you guys! |
I'm excited to hear the outcome of your call today. Age, weight, circumstances... Thanks for keeping us up-to-date & good luck today. |
Oh how exciting! 3 legged dogs get around just fine, they don't realize anything is different they just go back to being their happy little selves. As they get older you may want to do glucosamine/chondroitin to make sure the joints of the remaining legs don't wear thin and make sure you keep her a good weight. My only concern would be for you not to expect a lap princess just because she is a girl. Their personalities can change once they get home. I hope everything works out! |
[QUOTE=ChibiLuv;4321804] My only concern would be for you not to expect a lap princess just because she is a girl. Hey!! I resemble that remark!!! :D:p You are so right though!! :) |
Shes precious!!!! I think she has your name written all over her!!! :) |
Well?? Did you call?? Details girl....details! Lol:D |
ok, how is going? Is she moving in? Gotta know. |
Oh my goodness, if I didn't have Gunner I would apply for her! |
Did you call!?:D |
I did call yesterday and I talked to the receptionist at the vet and she couldn't really tell me anything accept for she was young(like between 1-2 years old) and that she liked to be held and did not want to be put down :) She didn't even know which leg she had lost. She suggested I emailed them, so I did and I haven't heard anything back yet. If I don't hear back today, I am going to head over to the vet clinic tomorrow morning and hopefully I can see her or at least talk to one of the kennel girls who knows her and what is going on with her!! I'll keep everyone posted!! |
