| ![]() As many of you may know I have decided to grow out Priscilla's hair and I must say its going very well and looking very healthy and nice. I attached a picture to support my theory :P. I have also always been curious of other Yorkie owners bath time routine and wanted to share mine. I start out by clipping her nails, and making sure she doesnt need a trim around her behind and her hooha. I then brush out her coat and them go back with a fine tooth comb to get out any tangles. I then gather all our supplies, the two shampoos I use, which are an oatmeal formula and a buttermilk formula, her conditioner, which is Pantene, her leave in hair conditioner, and a pair of latex gloves for me. I take those supplied to the bath tub, stop up the tub, and turn the water on. While the tub is filling up I put two towels in the dryer. I take Priscilla into the bathroom and out her in the tub. I then change into a pair of basketball shorts and get into the tub. Priscilla gets really nervous and scared if she is in in the tub alone so I sit in the tub and let her sit in my lap while I'm bathing her. I get a cup and pour water all over her then I use the oatmeal shampoo, wash it out, use the buttermilk shampoo, wash it out, I put loads of conditioner on her and comb it through her hair. I get Priscilla out and get the warm towel out of the dryer. I wrap her up in the towel and keep her in it for 5 minutes. I then take her back to the tub and wash out the conditioner. I get the second towel out of the dryer and wrap her in it. I wait until her hair is damp and put 3 drops of her leave in conditioner into my hands and rub my hands together then massage it into her hair. After that i use my hair dryer to dry her completely, give her lots of treats, and then bath time is done. What is your routine? |

| ![]() First of all...I literally laughed out loud at the "her hooha" LOL!! Her hair is looking so pretty! ![]() I had a hard time figuring out what would work for Mandie's hair. It kept frizzing up and breaking along her spine. So, she has a lot that goes into her hair now. Starting with Halo Dream Coat about 2 days a week on her food. She also gets her teeth brushed (and a little gets thru as a treat) with Coconut Oil. On her bath day, I do all that "get the tangles out first" and then we start. I bathe her in my sink with a sprayer. I know some people find it "eeww" to bathe in the kitchen sink, but I actually do wash things in my kitchen. I mean, if a dish is in the sink, it's washed before it's used so I'm not sure how bathing my dog in the sink can have any ill effects..but I digress.. lol I lay TWO towels out on the counter. I open up her treats and set them by the sink. She has tearless shampoo for her head, Espree shampoo for her body, and Nova Pearls cream rinse as her conditioner. I have a wash cloth, a cup, and a bath mat that I put in the sink for her to have traction. She gets washed and rinsed thoroughly all while being treated so she doesn't freak out (she hates baths). Then, I put her on one towel and towel dry her. Then I wrap her in the 2nd towel and off to the bathroom we go. Treats in hand. Blow dryer, spray on leave in conditioner, Madan pin brush, and Mustache comb waiting for us. ![]() That's about it.

| ![]() For Draco he still doesn't seem to know when the bath is coming so he doesn't get nervous or try to hide. I start off by brushing him out, then trimming paw pads and private areas and nails if needed. And I file his nails to. Then I go to bathroom and run warm water, with a towel near by. He act pretty good in the bath, I just soap him up using Espree Silk Show shampoo. It usually on him about 5 min maybe longer and I just use my hands rubbing his coat. Then I rinse him pouring warm water on him. After that I show him the towel that he nearly jumps in and take him to my room to blow dry. He's the type that tries to dry himself off by wiggling and rolling around which always gives me a good laugh. While he's still damp, I spray on Espree hydrating spray and a little argan oil spray then brush him while blowdrying. Then that's it! =]

| ![]() And I think bathing Zoey is a pain! Lol. Reading all that you do makes me want to take a nap but her hair is beautiful. I take off her collar and put her in the shower. I take my shower then sit down (it's a walk-in) and shampoo her. Then I wrap her in an unheated (lol) towel and blow dry her. Comb her out and cut off any mats. Put the collar back on an voila, we are finished. Not quite the spa treatment you little one gets. What a good mommy you are.

| ![]() My first little female Chloe (she is gone over rainbow bridge to be with her other furry friends) had real dry brittle hair. After years of trying many moisturizing products, I finally had her hair cut in a cute puppy cut. It grew in and was actually oily and no longer dry and brittle! Chloe being the Tom boy that she was, we ended up keeping it short! But I feel just like humans, Yorkies sometimes need a good hair cut. ![]() |

| ![]() NoahPaul, that is so sweet how you sit in the tub with Priscilla. I can see that you love pampering your little princess and I'm sure she loves it too. And those warm towels!
