None of mine would go near anything with Bitter Apple on it. They would head in another direction in a hurry! :D |
I will have to just spray my carpet with bitter apple and hope that she doesn't find any other corners. I caught her trying to do it a couple of times this weekend and I gave her a stern NO! and hopefully she will also keep that in mind. I just feel bad for having her in the kitchen but maybe she just likes it there better. |
I would tell you to try the bitter apple stuff and if she continues to try it I would contain her....if you don't like her in the carpet less kitchen you could try getting a rug or something she can lay on that is warm!! She might grow out of it and then she can have more freedom!! |
I hope she grows out of it. You know the funny thing is, she doesn't do it at my parents' house. I leave her in my old bedroom when I visit and she's just the best little girl. It's only at my own place..haha...she's really trying to stick it to mommy huh..lol  |
Maybe she just likes the look of fringe! :D Thank goodness they eventually grow out of this stuff or we'd all be certifiable! |
If you can't get Coco to curb her carpet appetite, you could always get a big dog bed to keep in the kitchen. You could throw a fleece blanket on it so that she can burrow if she wants to. My mom has one for her lab, and Olivia takes up a small portion of it, so it's almost as good as a bed! Isn't it frustrating with the furbabies- if only they understood the freedoms they could have if they would just behave! |

Haha, they alllllll have a poop compartment, especially when you have company over and in the corner of your eye you see a cheetos size black thing. AND IT'S RIGHT IN THE LIVING ROOM, NOTTTT ON THE PAD, BUT ON THE FLOOR. yea I'd say they alll have that compartment where they hold it in, and release when the time is appropriate. ;) |

Do you think it's just nerves from being alone? Maybe she doesn't like having too much space to herself? I don't know, just a thought. Bitter apple never worked for us, Tucker loves it. The stick deodorant is better, but like you said, you have to cover the whole carpet! |
I know it's just anxiety or nerves from waiting for me to come home. I guess too much space scares her since she's been used to smaller spaces since I brought her home. I crate trained her and slowly went from crate, to bathroom vanity area, to kitchen. She loves the kitchen, never does damage or gets anxious. I don't know why I'm so anxious to give her more space if obviously she doesn't want it. You think that's what it is? That she's just comfy having a smaller space? My kitchen is huge too. It's the size of a large bedroom. |

How else would they let us know how angry they are about being left ? They seem to either trash the house or pee and poop where they know they are not supposed too. Mine just totally ignore the bitter apple spray like it was not even there.... |
Oh when I'm not there, her pee and poo is in the correct spots and her food is eatten and toys have been played with. ALMOST an angel, until I see a piece of carpet padding hanging down her chin, while she gives me an innocent look. It's always a random corner too. It's when the guests come over that she decides to show us all her talents of holding poo and releasing poo in plain sight. |
