I've had something similar happen to me. Called the cops and they wanted my name, phone number, address, etc. I told them that under no condition where they to come to my door that I absolutely was afraid of retaliation if this person knew it was me that called them. I had no intention of answering the door, if they did knock. I simply don't get the thoughtlessness of cops sometimes. Absolutely, tell your neighbors - on all sides of you - about this. Ask them to be watchful and let them know you are home alone right now. I would also call the police ask to speak to the shift supervisor. Speak to a supervisor, not the person answering the phones. Tell him everything, tell him you are home alone right now and request that a patrol car drive by frequently for the next couple of weeks. I'd also want to know if the man was in jail or free. |

Please be careful!!! They were not thinking of you at all by knocking on your door. I know you are freaking out right now! I'm scared for you! |
Wow that is scary and they were not thinking!!! |
I'm doing the best I can. I have told a neighbor and my parents are aware as well. I have not informed the police because I can't help but think they are the ones who got me in the mess I dont really think they are gonna get me out of it. I have my cell phone on me with the emergency number on speed dial and all doors are windows are locked whether I am inside or out (which kinda sucks since we have no ac and it was rather warm today. |
Thanks for checking in... I'm sure a lot of ppl here would be worried if they didn't hear from you. When are your parents coming back? Can't you have a friend over to spend few nights with you? |
I would make an appointment with the police chief and pitch a FIT. That was SO unprofessional not to mention dangerous for you. Those officers need to be called out for that move. Don't just sit there frightened...go there, tell them how afraid you are and demand that they protect you! They owe it to you. |
My parents will be out of town for 2 weeks. I am heading up to Canada for 2 days this weekend but other then that I dont really have any options. I will think about contacting the police to voice my concerns but honestly I voiced them to the police officers and they didn't care so I can't see any one else caring either. Our police cause more trouble then good. |

Praying you stay safe, and yes I would invite friends/relatives over for a few days, if nothing else it'll make you feel better. How uncouth of the officer, sorry but that was not professional at all in my opinion. Well you always have us here at YT...there's always someone on line to keep you company and can call for help if you need it. |
Thank you guys so much, knowing I have you all makes me feel a lot safer! |

Please contact the police department, request to speak to the shift supervisor or better yet, like ladyjane said, the police chief. What these officers did was wrong and it put you in danger. Just because they didn't do the right thing doesn't mean the entire department is bad or that it was even proper procedure. If you don't speak up these officers will continue to do this to other people. You were amazingly courageous and did the right thing to report this break in, now please continue being strong and report what these officers did and demand additional patrols for your house. |
