My first yorkie was a little boy and I really wanted a little girl to put it cute dresses and pamper, so I started looking again!! I passed up many opportunities, merely because they were males and not females...until I found Ricky. It was love at first sight and the sex didn't even matter anymore. I still want a little girl some day, but I don't regret getting Ricky for even one second!! If this makes sense, I think who the dog is, tends to me more important than what sex the dog is. If you have a better connection with the male, and the breeder seems cool enough to work with you, I say get the male. It may be time for a change anyways if you've always had females. ...OR maybe you will luck out and your husband will say to just get both. I can think of all kinds of reasons why having 2 dogs is better than 1!! I don't know if this is true or not, but the lady I got my first dog from says that her males were more affectionate than her females. The females were less lovey and were more independent. It may just be her dogs...IDK, as I haven't been around enough yorkies to make that analysis. |
I'm a bad influence. I say take both. You can always get a new husband :D |
I say go with what makes you happy! sex isnt an issue and if you get a boy now you could always get a girl later ;) |
All I know is if you get the boy you'd better not name him "Pinktini"! Now that I have 2, I'll never have just one again. However, getting 2 at once? Not sure about that...... |

I would say take the male. It seems that you both are more connected. Put sex aside and go with your gut. Both females and males can be wonderful companions! Just go with the one you feel more drawn to. It looks like he chose you :) Why not choose him as well ;) And if you feel a good connection with the female too, go with her (your husband will have to adjust and he will fall in love with them!) But, don't go with her because you'll feel bad. If you go with both, do it because you feel great with both ;) |
Thank you for the advice :D he's definitely the one I'm leaning to and will be making the decision weds. When we first visited the breeders home my husband was fawning over the male but since I was so "set"'on a female he just let it go and didn't say anything to me about it. @RhettsMama you're gonna get me banned from YT by my husband hehehe I always tell him it's time for an "upgrade" |
@ dollydoodle if I named him Pinktini my husband would call "the people" on me and have me committed lol |
My very first was to be a little girl as well, but her brother stole my heart and I got him. I did almost get both, I still think about her to this day :) Good luck to you:) |

I say get the pup that touches your heart. |
I'm liking the comments: "Put sex aside" "Sex isn't important" "Forget about sex" Shall we start a new thread in the "Off Topic" section? LOL |
I think the fact your dh had a connection with the male pup, too, makes it a done deal. The only thing I regret about my male is not being able to dress him up in frilly little dresses, but, honestly, I don't have the time to dress a dog daily and am happier with my nekkid little boy!:D |
Honestly its not always about what you want sometimes God has other plans |

Take both! But if you just dont feel right doing that, those little boys will wrap you around their little paw!! Little girls can get prissy and cop an attitude, just like a sassy little girl....but those little boys.....all they want to do is love you and be loved by you! |
