I don't think my husband was thrilled...we already had Jewels a 55lb dog but I was determined. Trixie has totally stolen his heart...she loves her daddy. Poor jewels is often jealous but she can't be picked up and held. Your husband will fall in love as well. |

Your baby is so cute. It's easier to get forgiveness than permission. LOL I just decided I wanted one and went and got her. "Look what followed me home" |

Bf was the one who wanted a yorkie! I said, what?! I don't want one of those old lady dogs! Now look at me, crazy old yorkie lady. :p We went to a furniture store a few weeks ago and they had this HUGE couch that was like 8 pieces that you could rearrange in different configurations. We sat on it and looked at each other and said, how many yorkies can we fit on this? |

My DBF is very easy with animals. We have 4 cats lol . . . He was great getting a Biewer. The thing that drove him nuts is we kept looking at a bunch of Biewers. He just wished I would pick one. There was some amazing breeders and some wonderful pups. I just needed to get that connection. I knew he was the one for me. I know it sounds silly cause I didn't even touch him until I picked him up from the airport. He is perfect . . . |

The only man who ever had a say about the dogs was my Granddad and he was extremely easy going. He wanted a dog, but my Grandmom was afraid of big dogs and didn't want to deal with shedding, so he suggested a yorkie. They ended up with a very small, sickly yorkie. They only had her for a few years, but while they did my Granddad used to carry her in his shirt pocket. He also came home from work one day and drove my Grandmom like 12 hours to get a dog she had fallen in love with on vacation. He lived through 4 yorkies, 2 mutts, and 2 poodles and a variety of small animals (bunnys, guinea pigs, etc). He never complained, even when we randomly came home with the 2 poodles. Quote:

My DH wasn't real happy about another puppy when we got Laddy but gave in as I had just lost my Dad and needed comfort. Then he said 1 is ALL!!! Well when Laddy was 7 months old Lolita was posted here on YT and she stole both our hearts with her story and pictures, so off we went to Kansas to pick her up. Sadly we only got to share her little life for 2 years. When she passed we were both devastated. I would look at puppies but just couldn't find the right breeder. Well DH took it out of my hands and surprised me with precious little Kyra. Now he is the one who walks them most of the time and not in a harness but has to be in shirts and dresses lol. Yorkies can soften even the biggest hemans heart. |

I had lost my sweet Bunkey,,still miss him,,DH saw how sad I was. I didnt get off of the couch for about a week. He told me to find a baby so I would be happy again. At that time there were 5 other dogs in the house, but only one belonged to me. Mina is now 2 1/2yrs old,we currently have a tiny house guest. A little morkey,Pebbles. Mina is having such a good time with her. She has been here sense the 1st and wont go home until the 14th. I have been telling DH that Mina needs a baby sister for several months and Pebbles has pretty much proved that I am right. |

I love this thread! My hubby is not really a dog person.... My crazy story is that my brother committed suicide the day before my birthday in 2009. I was grieving and started looking at yorkies in magazines to take my mind off thinking about it all the time. I couldn't concentrate on novels. I moved to yorkie care books and was hooked. I got this idea that I wanted a yorkie for my birthday the following year so I would have something good to look forward to. All I can say is through a set of amazing circumstances that I can only attribute to God...my hubby and I picked up Copper ON my birthday. He was 11 weeks old. I was scared to death and anxious bringing home this tiny puppy. The breeder had let me visit him every week up until then. Copper never cried or whimpered like they say they do on the first night. He just attached himself to me. My hubby now walks him every night, sometimes in his slippers. If Copper wants to run, my 6 foot husband, Charlie, runs behind this little 4 pound yorkie often stopping suddenly as Copper sniffs out something. My husband's favorite harness vest (which I made) is black with pirate skeletons on it. AND just this week Charlie encouraged me to apply for a rescue yorkie I saw on the National Yorkie Rescue site. Unreal. My husband has come a long way!!! Too bad the little dog, Georgie, was already adopted. He looks just like Copper!:):):aimeeyork |

My hubby was very against me getting a yorkie!! His comment every single time I would ask was "Why would you want a little rug **pooper** (edited for language) and yapper!?!" Well, I finally got my way and he is so in love with her!! She uses her potty pad in the house and he's the only one she has ever barked at. Yesterday when we came home she sat on the couch and talked to him. OMG, it was the cutest thing I have ever seen. Sure wish I would have had my phone and recorded it!!! She is my 1 year old rescue dog and we have had her for almost 3 weeks and the change in her personality is absolutely amazing. I think she knows that her Mommy and Daddy love her TONS!!!! |

Honestly, neither of us wanted a dog when Sophie Kate came into our home (long story). Now a typical conversation goes like this Him: Where's my dog? Me: Your dog? You do not have a dog. Him: Did you feed my dog? Me: Your dog? You do not have a dog. Him: I miss my dog Me: Your dog? You do not have a dog So as you can see my problem is more along the lines of reminding him that she is MY DOG (insert the mental image of my index finger being up and my head bobbin back and forth). Constant topic of debate around here but honestly I am a blessed, I pretty much get what I want and never take it for granted. |

I should add that my one friend has a little Shorkie and Silky Terrier, one time we were out for a walk when it started storming (thunder, lightning), her husband was nice enough to get in the car and track us do so he could give the DOGS a ride home!!! Another man who was not sure he ever wanted a dog. |

After we lost Kiva (our first Yorkie) I knew we had to get another one. Not to replace her but to help heal that huge hole left in our hearts. Plus the house was so quiet and sterile. I missed dog sounds so so bad! So I got in touch with a wonderful breeder (Susan Hertz) on Long Island who promised to help heal all that pain. My husband was not on board at all. He wanted nothing to do with it. After Hailey was born I would show him pics that Susan would send me, he'd say "yea, that's cute." but that was about it. Then the day came when we went to Susan's to meet Hailey and her parents. He fell deeply in love! That's all he talked about on the way home...Hailey. Then last fall after we had Hailey for a while I knew she desperately needed a playmate....she was too full of energy. I couldn't keep up with her! I got involved with a rescue group (Stfbr.org) and adopted a 1 yr old morkie named Kennedy. Again my husband wasn't on board but as soon as we went to pick her up he fell in love. Now I want to start fostering. He's not on board yet....but you know what? I think he will as soon as he meets that first dog. I'm not worried at all. :) |

My husband bought Alfie as a surprise for me. He tells everybody, "I never had a wee dog before, I always had real dogs like Staffies" He is a technophobe but has managed since we got Alfie to work the camera on his phone. Are there any pictures on there of me, or of us both together? No, just Hundreds of Alfie. |
