Okay, so I called my vet to see the cost difference between the 1 year and the 3 year. I figured if I was told the prices, that inately answers if we have a choice. And we do. And there is a $19 difference in price (1 year = $12; 3 year = $31). So, I have been doing some research and getting recommendations from friends and family. An overwhelming majority recommend this vet in the next town. So, I am pretty sure I'm going to switch to them. Anyway, just to see their answer, I called and asked them. There price difference was $12 but you save based on their own pricing more than the other place (1 year = $18, 3 year = $30). Here's the other difference: Vet 1 said you have to have the 1 year first and then you can do the 3 year. So, Mandie is coming up on her 16 month time to have her 2nd rabies shot. She qualifies to get the 3 year. HOWEVER, Vet 2 said that you have to have TWO 1 years first and then can start doing the 3 years. All of this and knowing it is the exact same med and dosing for 1 year v. 3 year, I'm just peturbed. Why do I have to do TWO 1 years at Vet 2 (the one I want to start using)? And, why is the price so different if it is the same dose? Grrrr |

If they only charged $12 for the three year they would be making $4/year on it. Just not enough to buy the vaccine, needle, alcohol, etc. and pay the vet, tech, assistant and make any kind of profit. |
