You have a right to be with your dog! I will not let them take my dog unless it is for a procedure I can't be with them. |
I would not allow this |
I think its sweet that this woman is so in love with your pup she just wants to snuggle him. I have no problem with people picking up Jess and giving her love. She loves it and makes me proud I have such a lovable dog. :) |
Not normal. A receptionist couldn't just do that here. They would get in trouble. Some things that could be acceptable: "I need to take your puppy to the back for a weight. Our other scale is broken." "Could I hold your puppy for a minute/Can I go show your puppy off in the back." The latter would be moreso done by techs. Then sometimes here one of the assistants will go to the exam room before the vet to snuggle the dog if they love the breed. Generally this is only with long time or relaxed clients who are chill about anything. The occasional comment about wanting to take the pup home is not abnormal and is just a way of saying your pup is the cutest/most amazing. It is a major compliment. Staff should be very aware of the client's personality before saying too kuch or handling too much though. No receptionist has ever just sat at their desk with my dog. Very strange. And you can always say no and report it to the vet or practice manager. |
