Lump left from vaccination.

Has anybody's Yorkie ever had a lump where a vaccination was injected, and if so, how long did it last? I'm going to call my Vet in the morning, but Gina has a lump on the back of her neck where she got the injection. I don't remember this happening to Megan when she got any of hers. I'm not sure if I should be massaging the lump to break it up or what. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

You may want to try posting this in the sick and injured section also. You may get more responses. I don't have any advice. Barney did not get a lump, but he was lethargic for two days after his last vaccination. It makes me dread having to get any others. I think you are wise to call the vet. I hope everything goes well for Gina.

Mine had a small bump where she got her shots. I thought it was her microchip, but the vet felt it and said some pups get it after shots. I'd have her checked for your peace of mind. I did when they said I could bring her in just to be sure that's what it was. <-- over protective mom here!

That happened with Pixie once. I took her in to make sure and the vet didn't charge me. It only happened the one time. It took awhile to go away but it did go away completely.

I believe it's totally normal after vaccinations and will just go away in a few days.

Thanks to all of you that answered me, as I said I don't remember this happening to Megan, but the lump on Gina hasn't gone down in a week. The lump isn't hurting her, and she's not acting any weirder than normal, for her anyways. I'm going to take her in to get it looked at, just to be sure. Again many thanks.

Each dog is different. Some get them some don’t.

Peanut gets them every time he gets his Rabies shot. His will last a couple weeks.

What I do is warm compresses and I also rub it a lot. I will try to push it down, rub it- doing that really helps- more than the compresses.. at least for Peanut.

Make it a point to rub it down- daily.. a couple times a day if you can. It will go away.

The lump from the shot is gone, Gina gets her 13 week boosters and rabies shot in 2 weeks. She's doing great and is right at 2lbs now. Thanks for all the answers from everyone.

Do not get both shot's at the same time. Get her booster shot first and wait at least 2-3 weeks before she get's her Rabies shot. Glad she is doing good.
