The date is set... It's been almost 3 months since Nena was in heat. I called the vet to set an appointment for her spay. It's on the 6th of august. Even though I went through it once already with Rufus, I'm still nervous. She's my little girl (half rufus' size) and my oldest. Will keep everyone up-to-date. |
She'll be fine and you ARE doing the best thing for her ((((((HUGS)))))) It won't stop you feeling a nervous wreck until you get that phone call to say she's fit and well and ready to take home though, will it :p |
We are all nervous when they go in. May Nena have a easy and uneventful spay |
Mama's are always nervous when it comes to their babies. It will be over and she will be home in your arms before you know it. |

I will rest when I receive that phone call :) |

I'm going to be on holiday that week, but will of course have a peek from Cornwall :), just to check your little Nena is ok, and back safely home and cuddling with her family. Thinking of you (both!! :)) Sally xx |
Thank you so much Sally :) |
We are on our way to the vet. I'm trying to stay normal and positive cause I want Nena to feel good :) Will keep you all up-to-date |
Keep busy today so you don't worry yourself sick. Sending prayers and a hug |

My babygirl is home. Everything went ok. The vet cleaned her teeth as well. I got pain relievers and antibiotics for her. I have Rufus in another room because Nena needs to rest :) |
So glad her spay went well. Keep her quiet until the vet says she can do more. (after a week, she'll try to trick you into playing, but her inside still needs to heal, so do your best not to give into her playful self) Make sure she eats and drinks too. The pain meds will make her sleep a lot and she might miss her usual meal time. |
Thank you for the tip :) Since we got home she has been sleeping. She hasn't drink anything and the vet told me to wait till the night to give her something to eat. What can I do to 'make' her drink? |

Do as the vet says- make her meals smaller too so she doesn't get sick (smaller and offer meals often, like every few hours). The vet explained that her insides were moved around during the spay, so her digestive system will be a little upset. (tummy and intestines) They had me watching for peeing and pooping. If she has any trouble with these, call the vet. It sounds like she's doing fine. Sleeping will help her heal. I was so glad to have the spay over. That's the worst! All the worrying before, then feeling silly after for worrying! LOL! But they're our babies, and deserve to get the mommy worry from us, don't they? :) |
They are truly our babies and we do worry. I will check her pee and poo. She hasn't peed yet so I'll keep an eye on her. Can't wait for this to be over and for Nena to be her self again. It's so sad to see her just laying and sleeping :( But it's for her well being. |
I only had experience with Rufus about the whole neutering spaying thing. And when Rufus got neutered it was so different. 3 hours after the surgery he was normal and full of energy. He ate and drank well and did his business without any problem. But I guess you can't compare. Rufus' surgery was less invasive than Nena's. |
I'm so glad all went well. A spay is harder on small dogs, but your baby will be feeling much better tomorrow. She probably isn't drinking because she's probably fully hydrated from the IV. My prayers are with both of you. |
Thank you Lisa :) |

Thank you Maximo :) |
so glad all went well and shes home resting. prayers for a quick recovery and return to herself. |
Nena is doing better. She peed so that's good :) She is a bit more active, checking where we are, wiggling her tails and other small stuff. Rufus is behaving with her, I think he can sense that Nena needs some rest and he just smells her and leaves her alone. (such a good brother) :) |

3 Attachment(s) Nena is doing much better today. She has been eating and drinking water without trowing up. She hasn't pooped yet so I'll be checking that. She's more active, walking around and stuff but we always tell her to go to sleep :) The first and second pic are from yesterday, she was trembling so I covered her with her blanky and she stopped trembling. The third pic is from today, she used her toy as a pillow and I found it very cute :) Thanks everyone for all your thoughts and prayers :) |
Ahhh...shes such a cutie! Im glad everything went well! Looks like she is rocking her onsie!! |
Glad she's doing well, love the 3rd picture! |
Thanks Kendra and Cindersellie :) I took Nena out to get a bit of exercise and to do her business and she pooped :D I've never been this happy about her pooping. I just couldn't see the consistency of the poop because it was to dark and I didn't bring my phone or a flashlight. But I'm still happy that she pooped :) The vet called today asking how Nena was doing and she was pleased to hear that Nena was doing fine :) |
So glad she is doing better. Jasper was neutered and had 7 teeth removed last week. I was a mess. I can not imagine having a spay done on these little babies. Its more invasive...praying she is back to her old self very soon. Such a sweet and cute baby with such a good mommy. :) |
That's so sweet :) Thanks Steph :) |
Glad that Nena is doing well. Sounds like she's on the mends. It's so funny how we are so trained and jump for joy at the sight of poop? hahaha. |
