He's hurt My Yorkie jumped off of a really high table. He became really stiff for about 3 to 4 minutes. I panicked & cried rushing to find a 24 hour vet in this little town. When i went back to him and my children he had started walking. He is not running like normal but he is walking. We rub him and he sometimes cries. Can anyone tell me why my baby became so stiff. I thought that he was dead... (Crying) please help us!! |
You need to get him to an emergency vet and get him checked out immediately. Only the vet can say why he got all stiff, but i would not wait until morning. If there is no 24 hour vet, call yours and have the answering service call him. Many times vets will meet you at the office for emergencies. Hope all turns out well. Post update after you see the vet, please. |
He most likely has a spinal injury. You NEED to take him to a vet ASAP. IF he has a slipped disc in his back & it is not allowed to heal properly or put back in it can cause the vertebra to grow deformed & he can have life long back problems. I am dealing with this exact issue in a Doxie that I rescued a couple of yrs ago who was allowed to be kicked around by horses & put her discs out when she was a pup . Once their bones grow & the problem isn't addressed when their young & the injury first happens, not even surgery can fix it, now we make constant trips to the Chiropractor. Had she seen a vet or a Chiropractor when the injury 1st happened, she would not be in the shape she's in now. PLEASE take him to the Vet & possibly the Chiropractor. |
Why was he on a "really high table" unattended? I pray that he'll be ok. |
Take him to a Vet, the poor baby is hurt. I agree why was he on a high table? |
How is he??? |
dog Prayers for this little Yorkie. The vet needs to see him asap. Keep him quiet until you get there. He probably was in shock from that fall. I have to put pots on the dining room chairs so my JoJo won't jump up onto the table. I will do that to avoid an accident. My whole house is country anyway and with dogs it is hard to keep everything in its place. |
How is your baby?? |
Yes, how is the little guy? You've got us all worried! I really hope he's ok. |
This baby must see a vet immediately! If he has sustained a spinal cord injury, and his cord swells, cutting off blood supply and pinching nerves, he can end up paralyzed....and please block the access he had that enabled him to get on a really high table or anything else! These babies have NO fear and will fearlessly jump from any height, breaking, legs, backs, necks, etc. Prayers going out for this baby, with his unfortunate injury. |
I hope you are at the vet! Please update us when you can. Prayers for your little pup |
Had almost the same thing happen with my boy. Get him to the vet asap my boy ruptured a disc in his back. it can be treated and have a good outcome but the sooner he gets treatment the better. I would start with keeping him as quiet as possible put a kool compress on his spine and find a vet! Please let us know how the baby is doing as he is now part of our family and we all will worry. Good luck ***sending kisses for baby. *** |
Please let us know how he is doing. |
He needs to be seen by a vet asap! |
Any updates? |
Hello????????? Update on this baby please........... |
I hate when people make one post with a terrible problem and ask for advice, but never come back and inform of the outcome!!!! |

My hope is that they're busy getting medical help for their little one. Please come back with an update soon, we just want to know how he's doing. |
Update please |
The op has not ever signed back on after the initial post. (Last activity 7/23 @ 0254 am) Guess they didn't care about any answers they might have gotten to the question asked. Sigh... |
Im so sorry for the late reply. I had forgot how to log in. I thank everyone that asked how Aiden is. Aiden is running around in good health. Apparently when he jumped he hit his head and knocked him out for a while. He had X-Rays and thank GOD there were no broken bones. |
Yay that's wonderful news!! So glad Aiden is ok! Thank you for the update :) |
I'm glad you got him into the vet. Thank you for updating. It's very lucky that he wasn't hurt! |
Glad to hear he was ok. When we got Gracie we pretty much had to rearrange most of our home in order to keep her from hurting herself. They have no idea how small they are. |
Some people were really rude in my post. To clear things up i appreciated all of the advice i was scared out if my mind when it happened. And just like you Iam a dog lover. I have a Yorkie & a full breeded Pit & i care for my animals just as you do. However, 1. I forgot how to log in (password) 2. I have 2 jobs 3.i have 2 teenagers a son who does all year sports & a daughter who dies cheerleading & gymnastics. With that said I have been very busy. And on top of all of that taking care of my mircle dog AIDEN! Bt again i do thank you ALL for the concern & the advice bt some of you went out the way to be rude!! With love, Aiden & his owner |
How scary that must have been. So glad everything turned out ok! |

I'm glad your little one is ok, and I hope your vet gave you information on what to be on the lookout for following a head injury. |
I'm sorry if I came across as rude. Like Rhetts_mama said, we do get quite a few people who ask for advice then never come back. I was frustrated and worried about your baby. I'm very glad you went to the vet and xrays were good and that he is fully recovered. I hope you stick around. Lots of great people here who are passionate about yorkies. :) |
Glad to know everything turned out okay for your baby. There are some people who are rude but very few others care so much about their babies that sometimes they come on a bit strong. All in all this a great site and their are so many great people on it. I guess you have to take the good with the bad. |
