Cage dryers were banned in NY last fall, and I believe they have been banned in a couple of other states. The Humane Society Of New York |

I too would not use myself a crate dryer, nor take any of my dogs to a groomer that does. I have not seen horror stories, and I won't open that link. In fact other than my breeders (for my two breeds) I trust no-one to leave my dogs alone with for grooming. I essentially for day to day grooming groom my own, for show grooming, as sadly I lack the talent for that, I have been blessed with my breeders to mainly do for me. I actually lust after a Stand Dryer, which is a different kettle of fish from a crate dryer. But they are an upright dryer, you can direct the air flow to different parts of the dogs body as you slicker the hair dry. They are quite expensive, and as I have count em, three high velocity dryers, one mini, one CC, one double duty XX, my husband looks askance at me, when I mention the stand dryer. I am hoping to find one on sale, or a "rehome" dryer. With if we get a new show lass, I could probably make a case for it, of course after I get that dog bather stainless steel tub installed :-) But I am also lusting after a very safe high end crate, which seems to retail at about $1000 for the small ones... Thank God for hubby who indulges me lots.... |

Poor Teddy!! I hope they haven't put him in one of those torture cages!! I certainly don't blame you for looking for another groomer. I believe that you won't take him to just anyone either. You'll find the right one for both of you. Hang in there!! |
Thank you so much to everyone for responding. I can't even tell you how much it means. I feel very fortunate to be able to come on here and have people understand how I feel about Teddy. This is a special place. I will make sure he is never in a crate dryer again. |
beyond disturbing, really...beyond. I'm calling in the morning...if they have them there I swear I will flip ship all over them. |

Never heard of such thing but sadly not surprised. I'd like to put them in a caged dryer and see how much they enjoy it. I think that's just as bad as those "doggie washing machines" Japan came up with... I don't believe the fad made it to the States (thank goodness) but I felt so bad for those dogs that had to endure it there... I think I learned about that on YT... I don't get it.. If you care for your pet enough to take him/her to the groomers, why subject them to something like that?! |
My groomer does not use these, thank goodness. Her grooming station has viewing windows throughout, anyone and everyone sitting in the waiting room can see everything she does. She treats Winston the way I treat Winston...she's very loving and kind to all animals...I know in my heart she really cares. She moved from one vet office to another and I followed her. I love my groomer, hope she never retires!!! I may have to follow her...lol |
I don't want to look at anymore pics. Are these the cages that have the dryer hoses attached to them? |
Oh wow. Just seeing this thread. Poor Teddy! I had no idea cage dryers even existed. It's a good thing you learned about this before your little girl came home. Glad you found a new spot!! |
