When you wash your litle girl, wet the head first. They will look to hide in the ears, so it's best to be careful. Good luck with your sweet baby girl. |

Great advice above. I saw a flea for the first time in my life last year. My boys picked up a few at the park. We were not using any preventatives at the time, despite our vet's warning that it was a really bad year for fleas. With hard work, we prevented getting infested. We used regular dog shampoo and were generous with it lathering up the boys. Good tip to wet the head first and make a shampoo ring around the neck. Vacuum every nook and cranny every day. That included the car for us because we drive daily to go walking. Fleas lay eggs quickly and new ones hatch in cycles. That is why it is important to keep vacuuming and washing even when you don't see any. Wash beds/bedding and everything that can be washed as often as possible. Every evening when we would return from the park, I would comb out my boys and hunt for fleas. I found one on each dog every night for about 2 weeks. To kill the fleas, I kept coconut oil within reach. Fleas are too hard to catch and the oil slows them down. We haven't seen any this year. Crossing paws and fingers that we won't. Good luck! |
Thankfully, I haven't had to deal with fleas with Katie. When I had three other little ones, I occasionally but had to deal with them. I don't remember much, but I knew that they'd hide in the ears, so I would wet them and the face first and apply shampoo there first. I used a drying powder on the ears afterwards. I rarely had to deal with them, but I always used a preventative. One of my little girls was allergic to fleas, so I had to use two different preventatives two weeks apart. One killed them instantly but wasn't effective on ticks. Fortunately, now I can use something more effective for both fleas and ticks. I never had to deal with getting fleas out of the house luckily. |
Thanks guys! i just dont know where she got them from im trying to remember everything. She has had contact with my cousins and he goes to dog parks and plays with other dogs as well so it could be that as she didnt even get her rabies shot yet so she hasnt been walked yet...how can i tell for sure if they are in the house? |

I use Revolution on Trinket and she has never had fleas, so far. I have been reading Roger Biduk`s website. He has me worried. Says they should not have pesticides on them, or give by mouth. (flea and tick preventative.) What are your ideas on that? |
