My Yorkie doesn't bark?? WHY?? Hello Everyone, I'm new to this site so I'm not sure if im posting right but.... OKay I know it sounds crazy to complain about my Yorkie NOT barking... but she is now 17weeks old and has still yet to bark, my vet says that she just hasn't had a reason to bark yet. I'm still kinda afraid something might be wrong with her.. anyone ever had this issue??? |
Yes, I do as well. My Yorkie is 8 months old and she never barks. |
Mine didnt bark when they were young pups give her untill 6 mos old and youll be wishing she still didnt bark. The only fault mine have is their barkikng and its ear piercing sometimes |
i agree once they start you cannot go back....lol they probably just havent felt the need yet...dont worry one day soon youll hear their voices. |

Jaeger didnt bark until he was 5 months old...and then we had to train him NOT to bark, he barked so much. He still slips up sometimes and has to be reminded to use his indoor voice. I wouldnt worry about your pup not being vocal-it will probably happen eventually. |
Puppies don't usually don't bark until they mature enough to see their home territory as their own and take responsibility for it and that can take a few months with most of them. In time, she will become an excellent watchdog. These little terriers love to watch out for their property and people! |

My Oscar is almost 2 years old and rarely barks.. I LOVE It. He is so quiet sometimes I forget he is here.:D |

Hannah is 7 mos. old now and has barked only for attention since the day I brought her home. Funny how my DH can stir around the house in the A.M. for hours and Hannah never makes a sound until I get out of bed. I worry when shes quiet!! |
Chili is 13 weeks and I've only heard him bark twice while he was trying to get Coco (kitty) to chase him (he loves to play chase). He's not much of a barker but has whining down perfectly :eek:. |
My Megan was a barker, but only after I taught her to, boy did I wish for the next 15 years that I hadn't. Gina is only 9 weeks old and she barks sometimes, usually when she can't reach something, or wants us to get her out of her crate in the morning, if we don't hear her growl first. My sweet Cassie was never a barker. |
Honey did the same thing but when she did start she had a bark like a big dog. Some times I wish she would stop again. |

Once Fritz taught Sophie what to do she turned into a crazy barker (about 5 mo.). She is almost 8 months now and is as I type in the dark bathroom barking at a pair of shorts on the floor. She barks at everything! :dogsm2: At least she will stop when I say "Sophie No Bark!" |
ZoE hardly made a peep for many months....then she learned how to bark. Now she won't shut up!!! She barks at her own reflection in anything, mirror, window, stainless appliances, fireplace glass, etc. She barks at animals on tv, people walking outside, neighbors mowing their grass, and any animal (squirrels, birds, lightening bugs, moths, etc) she sees out the window, day or night. Enjoy the quiet & be thankful your pup isn't barking...YET :D |

Wow, I am jealous of the non barkers. I remember asking the breeder if Bentley was a barker,:animal36 and she said no not really. Well she was wrong:( Sometimes his bark is so ear piercing:woof: especially in a room with cathedral ceilings, so I wouldn\'t be too concerned if your pooch doesn\'t bark. |
