oh yes, TAKA is a growler, like really loud and annoying at times lol. he growls at everything he's playing with and won't stop until he's tired! we yell at him when it gets too out of hand but he's not mean to us or lily so i'm guessing its ok?? Lily just looks at him like what is wrong with you boy?? lol

I guess Joel is just a growler, he's NEVER done the aggressive growl. He uses it as a way to tell me something even to go potty. So it makes me feel better, I should get a video of him and Milo playing tug. He sounds like he's being strangled lol
Taka does the same thing! it's high pitched if he has to go potty and low growl when he's playing with toys or lily.

My boys always growl during tug o war, it is a playful growl which is their way of speaking. My boy teddy does not bark but growls softly when he wants something, like out of his crate in the morning or up in my lap. It is completely different from his aggressive growl he used to due when young.

Jess never growls. We played tug of war today and she never growls or shows teeth. She never has, not over anything...she just takes off with the sock we use when she doesn't want to play anymore (although she loves us chasing her)

I wonder why that vet told an earlier poster not to let them. I can't remember if anyone of authority said it when I read it almost a year ago, but it was said not to let them. Curious why some think/believe that it is not ok?
I'm wondering why he told me that too! I'm going to ask our new vet the next time we go see her. We have a good rapport and she is so nice. She snuggled Toby during his appointment and then brought her Maltese in to meet him. Toby loved her--he was terrified of the old vet which is why I switched vets.

I will ask the next time we go in. :)

Here's a video, I didn't even notice until I watched it again how once the toy was on the floor Joel blocked the toy from Milo. He has "jerk tendencies" lol sometimes he's mean but he still has never gotten aggressive.

Gina, my new puppy is a growler/talker, big time. This morning at 5:20 she was growling/whimpering, she needed to go to the bathroom, now she has her duck, and is chewing and growling with it and tossing it around. She is so much fun to watch and listen to. She has never been mean, but she is a little too brave right now, she runs up to all 3 cats, wanting to play, they want nothing to do with her. They have all missed my Megan, but I'm sure Gina will win them over in time. I just hope I can teach Gina to smile like Megan did.
