She sounds like a fiesty one! Isn't it great having a well-socialized pup? Cookie is adorable :) Congratulations! |
Oh she's a beauty  As to the housetraining.....puppies tend to pee and poop as soon as they wake up, straight after eating and inbetween too :D I used to always take my pups outside onto a patch of grass every half hour, tell them to ''Be Clean'' and within a couple of days they soon cottoned on that going out meant emptying themselves and I then gave them lots of praise and a game :) During the night I would set my alarm for 3am and take them out of their crate and take them to their toilet patch, tell them to ''Be Clean'' and as soon as they'd emptied it was back to bed...with no fuss so they realise that Mummy was going to sleep and it was NOT playtime! :p Yes, I still got the odd mistake during the day but 99% of these were MY fault because I was too slow and didn't instantly pick puppy up and take her outside as soon as she woke/finished eating etc. It's amazing just HOW quickly puppies learn to let you know when they want to go outside and I'm sure Cookie will soon realise what her new Mummy wants  Yes, it's tiring the first few days and you often think ''WHAT have I done!!!!!!!'' but it soon passes and once Pup is a few months old they don't need the middle of the night loo break.....mine have always snuggled up next to me in bed and don't wake until I do LOL |

She is just a doll baby! :) |
Oh my goodness she is so precious!! Makes me want a little sister for Jasper! :) |
Oh my!! Cookie is adorable. I just love those kisses, we call it "kissy face". Bella was a little hard to train, but she is doing great now. She's 5 months. We do have a doggy door. Congrats. Sounds you two are a perfect match! |
I want to hug & kiss Cookie, too! She's a doll. |
So I got the score to Cookie 3 - Chris 7 by taking her out every 15 minutes and just making a huge deal over every poop and pee. I'm so in love with this dog. |
This girl is so well socialized. I figured she'd be really scared and that I'd have to give her some space early on until she came around, but I just got about a minute straight of kisses after taking her out a couple of minutes ago. I guess Lil' Cookie's not used to the sounds of the city though. She started barking like crazy when a neighbor drove by on his motorcycle. It's funny, I put on Netflix earlier and she started yelling at the hand icon on the screen that I was moving around to pick my movie! I mean she got really mad at it for a minute! |
She is so adorable. Congrats. |
My camera does no justice. She has such a beautiful coat. |
Congratulations on the adorable new addition to your life. Enjoy your baby! |
Breaks my heart to have to put her in her crate tonight. She's crying right now and maybe scared but I can't have her running around the house when we can't watch her. :( She is just so inquisitive and I don't want her getting into trouble. All in all, an awesome first day with my baby. :) Thank you Deb! |
Wow, she is still crying. But I know I can't give in. |
Finally quieted down, so after a few minutes of quiet I knew it was time to take her out to pee. And she did, so of course I made a big fuss over her and gave her lots of positive reinforcement via saying sweet things, hugging, and kissing. Now the crying is back again after putting her back in her crate for the night. I wonder how many nights this is going to take her. Sleeping outside the crate is not an option at her age. |
But the score is now Chris 9 - Cookie 3 on the potty training scoreboard. |
