I'm so tired I don't know what to do - I'm so tired my mind is set on you... Background; Girl 'Crystal' aged 24 weeks, we re-homed her June 18th this year, to a quiet retired couple home, with no other pets. Good natured little soul, who desperately wants to please. Today, she's been really sleepy, there was hyper action this morning. For the past six hours however just the doleful look and a little sigh as she settles down from watching us move about. Nose is cool but dry, eyes clear, motions healthy & normal. I suppose as a growing girl, she's going to have these slower days to top up the batteries' but has yours demonstrated these symptoms sometimes? |
Maybe she's just having a lazy day? We all have those :) |
Yeah, if she had hyper action this morning, she may have over tired herself. If she's still out of sorts tomorrow, maybe a quick call to the vet, but for now I wouldn't worry. As long as she seems okay otherwise and is eating and drinking normally..? |
My first thought is low blood sugar. |

I absolutely LOVE Doc Martin. I've watched all of the shows that are available on Netflix as well as Doc Martin and the Legend of the Clootie. I would love to live in the village where the show is filmed. |
Young dogs usually have spurts of energy intermingled with naps. A whole day of low energy would be something to look at closely. As already mentioned you need to make sure she is eating enough so she does not suffer from low blood sugar. She is still young and low blood sugar can be an issue at that age. Is she doing better now? |
Has she had all her shots??? I would worry about parvo or hypoglycemia. |

Glad she's back to her normal boisterous self  These animals don't 'alf worry you when they have a 'quiet' day, don't they!!! I was pretty lethargic myself yesterday but that was probably down to the rather muggy weather - it was SO humid and 'heavy' that I felt completely drained by the evening :thumbdown Could Crystal have been feeling it too - has it been very warm where you are? Forecast is looking hot hot hot for the UK this coming weekend....must remember to take the fan to work to keep me cool on Saturday :p |

I never even realised you could get air-conditioning in the UK :D I drive hubby Neil nuts when he keeps saying, on a hot day, how he'd like a car with air-conditioning and I pipe up with ''We've got it...it's called opening a window'' ;) :p He calls me some VERY rude names!!!!! :yelrotflm Glad Crystal is back to her normal self  It's lovely being near the coast, isn't it - we are only 4 miles or so from it and on hot days I always head that way as most of the time it's a lot more bearable than heading inland  |

I found a HUGE green shore crab on Boulmer beach last summer which was almost as big as my hand  That must be, to a yorkie pup, as big as a grizzly bear would be to us :D Poor thing was stranded in a shallow puddle as the sea was on it's way out so I picked her up ( it WAS a girl - you can tell by looking at the shape of the shell underneath) and carried her to a lovely deep, seaweed-full rockpool and released her there :) |
I live in a state more to the north in this country. We have cool to cold weather most of the year but for the 3 months of summer we get we do have AC to get us through. I try to leave it off for as long as possible because Gracie thinks she is a tropical type of girl. When the AC goes on she finds her blanket and cuddles up in it or finds a warm lap to cuddle in. I sometimes have to put a shirt or fleece on her to make her comfortable. Can't imagine working in an office with no AC. Most of our buildings do not have windows that open anyway. Maybe we are too dependent on electricity and AC. In most cities everything just shuts down if we have a power outage. I imagine you little girl does get quite a workout on the beach. It's nice that you give her a ride on the way home. Their legs are so much shorter than ours so they are really moving much faster than we realize. |

Back on Crystal, i just sort of feel her emotions somehow and give her little pins a break now and then. We also have a favourite bench on the sea front now, and as it draws near she jumps upon it, ears down tail wagging, then hops in the bag as I sit down and pour a coffee from the flask. By the way she loves cappuccino, (which I don't let her get at), but she's a little monkey for licking the cup out, if she can. What do you do with them! |

When walking remember the 5 min rule per month of age. Twice daily, this doesnt include offleash playiing! |

Update Midnight, loads of activity tonight, now sleeping soundly in her little nest by my pillow! |
I've always found that a dog that has had plenty of exercise is so much easier to deal with than one with pent up energy! I'm sure both of you regret not going for a walk today!:) Gracie gets at least 2 walks a day plus time out in the backyard with me while I work in the garden. They are such very busy, curious little dogs. We do whatever it takes to keep her busy.....for our own sakes as well as for her!;) |
