I live in a state more to the north in this country. We have cool to cold weather most of the year but for the 3 months of summer we get we do have AC to get us through. I try to leave it off for as long as possible because Gracie thinks she is a tropical type of girl. When the AC goes on she finds her blanket and cuddles up in it or finds a warm lap to cuddle in. I sometimes have to put a shirt or fleece on her to make her comfortable.
Can't imagine working in an office with no AC. Most of our buildings do not have windows that open anyway. Maybe we are too dependent on electricity and AC. In most cities everything just shuts down if we have a power outage.
I imagine you little girl does get quite a workout on the beach. It's nice that you give her a ride on the way home. Their legs are so much shorter than ours so they are really moving much faster than we realize. | I worked for Arco, based in LA back in the early 70's. I travelled widely in my job and have easily seen more of your beautiful country than many of my American friends. I got citizenship in '78, but took promotion back to the UK in '81. I lived in Woodland Hills and Rochester NYS. My favourite states are Colorado, Michigan, Utah and all of the New England ones. I regret ever coming back, except I would never have met my late wife of twenty years and nothing could ever have replaced that. I loved the Air Con, Ice cream parlours, blueberries, grits, real coffee, etc etc. I have enduring affection for my 'adopted' country and have lot of cousins out there too, as my Great uncle went West in 1890 and had seven sons!
Back on Crystal, i just sort of feel her emotions somehow and give her little pins a break now and then. We also have a favourite bench on the sea front now, and as it draws near she jumps upon it, ears down tail wagging, then hops in the bag as I sit down and pour a coffee from the flask. By the way she loves cappuccino, (which I don't let her get at), but she's a little monkey for licking the cup out, if she can. What do you do with them! |
