Rosie has long hair. Can I ask what shampoo you are using? I noticed there were certain ones I used that didn't keep her smelling good all week. As I give baths weekly. I also use yorkie sheen as a detangler/smell good. As far as the pee smell, use wipes or maybe have the groomer trim her hair that's underneath. |
Lola is the same age as Miley and her hair looks the same. Lola doesn't smell like pee and it's been a week since her bath. The only thing I've done is cut some hair on her lower belly and she had a long clump of hair on her girl parts that I've cut twice. I've also cut hair off her butt because poop got stuck in it. |

Like most have said, trim her "no no" area and the inside of her legs, and maybe a bit of her legs. If you are doing it yourself use a trimmer, not scissors. It's a bit safer for newbies. |

I cut the hair off about an inch around her butt and trimmed some of the hair on the back of her legs. Depending on how much hair the urine's in, I'd probably just cut/trim that hair off and neaten from there. |

My Leilani looks exxxxactky like Miley!! They're even the same age. Sometimes Lani smells like pee but I think it's because they're sloppy little babies. At night I give her personal areas and back legs a rub down with baby wipes or warm cloth. |

First I have to say your Miley is adorable, I can't imagine anything that cute can stink. I don't have any advice really, Winston lifts his leg so high to pee that he couldn't possibly pee on himself. He has a long coat, but he does go to a groomer and she shaves his underside/belly and around his butt and inside of his legs. He gets bathed every 2 weeks at the least, and I really don't smell urine on him at all. |

She is really gorgeous, Courtney!! :) Jasper had a lot of hair on his belly, too. But, no urine smell. Have you tried using puppy wipes or a plain, moist paper towel to wipe her after she pees? Just to keep the urine from running into her hair? Bless both of your hearts....a bath every 2-3 days is a lot. Especially if she hates them. :( |
A warm rag works for me also on a messy day. |
Give her a hygienic hair cut. It should help a lot. A baby wipes are a must. Roxy my only 1 in full coat does get a Vajj rinse several times a week. |
Sometimes medications will make urine "smell" really funky. I have two girls that are 8 months old and I give them the "sanitary cut" (around their private parts). I'm letting their coats grow long and so far, they don't have a urine smell ... UNLESS someone misses the Piddle pad and they walk through the urine. Love the photos, she is adorable! |
I agree with what most of the others are saying. If you will clip around her privates, it should take care of it. I know it is scary clipping their hair. But should you mess it up, it can be fixed. You have a cute little stinker:). |
Lollie must sprinkle when she tinkles 'cause she manages to get pee-pee in her back leg hair and tail hair if I don't keep the hair banded. I try to keep her tail hair and her back breeches banded and braided to keep it clean. She is a "hot mess" right now, I'll take a pic after her bath and grooming. Her hair is floor length+ - I just don't have the heart to cut it since she championed. |
I give my boys a sanitary cut. I clip their bellies and underarms short about 1/4 inch, leave rest of coat long. You can't tell unless they roll on their backs, keeps tangles down too and lessens peeing on themselves. |

Have you bought the doggie wipes yet? I wipe Cinders private parts off with them and her feet if she walks through the pee on the wee wee pad. When is she finished with her UTI meds? Hopefully the smelly Miley will go when the meds finish. If not- have them check her urine again to see if it's (the uti) cleared up. *** She's really growing into a beautiful yorkie! *** |
Both of mine will smell like urine if I don't give them a sanitary trim, so you're definitely not alone. Finnigan used to pee all over the fur on his right side since he lifts his leg on the left and Gwenndilyn peed all over the sides of both legs. I clip the hair on the inside of both of her legs and also now leave a longer pee string on both to help direct the urine down and away from them. |
Kyra has a long coat with a sani trim we just wipe that area a few times a day with wet wipes and also her beard after eating. |
How are things going with Miley and her "smell"? Any better? |
I keep Gracie's fur long most of the time. We have it cut to just under her belly in the spring and by the time winter rolls in again her coat is back to her feet. We do trim her underneath and around her butt in order to keep things clean. They sell various types of wipes that are good for quick cleanups when necessary. |

Forgive me if I echo someone elses thought but I'm at work and need to get back to it so I have only skimmed. Question: Is she possibly laying down on a pee pad? the puppies I have had would pick up odors from doing that from time to time. |
My girl Lexi will be 17 weeks on Friday an she looks exactly like your girl. Her hair is about the same length and she does not smell. Such a cutie , is she pure yorkie or silky? Mine is a Silky Yorkie. |
Sophie Kate will also lay on her pee pad, I have to watch her closely or else she will take a good long nap and wake up smelling like pee. I keep Sophie Kate cut pretty short around her girl parts and under her tail, so far I have been lucky. |
